Just installed my used predator... I have a few questions...

1) More of an observation, it took a little longer to upload tune than I was hoping, but not bad. I made the mistake of uploading the tune, THEN, adjusting tire size

2) I dont have an egt yet, but what would be safe to run 'daily' if I keep my foot out of it? I dont really rod on it, only when flying up an on ramp etc...

3) Is the 100hp (big) tune totally out of the question without an egt gauge? I wouldnt run it long, maybe up the strip a few times, or out on the dunes here and there..... should I avoid it? Those who run it with egt gauge, what are you gauges showing on the bigger tunes? Im running a stock exhaust with cat and muffler cut out and straight pipe welded in...

4) What are you all getting your best mileage on? Mostly flat driving

THANKS!

I wouldn't go more the the 65hp setting. Especially on a stock trans.

I lost 1mpg going from the tow to the economy setting. I'm trying the stock setting out to see if I can do better. I like the tow setting because I feel ok about getting on the pedal once in a while. The Eco/performance setting shifted like crap for a while but if I drive like a granny it's alright. No gains in mileage yet. At least it was cheap. I'll probably go back to the tow setting or try something else all together. I may send it to diablosport as I have the 2.00 programing.

I run mine on 100hp with a stock trans. No limps yet. You just have to be really careful on the 4-5 and 5-4 shifts. I use my OD lockout button a lot so I can control when it shifts into and out of 5th. I probably wouldn't use the 100hp if you spend most of your time in 5th. I'm lucky, most of my driving I don't need 5th. It's a bit of a gamble, some guys have limped their trans in the first minute of trying the 100hp tune. (IMO they're doing something wrong) A few like myself have had good luck. It's all in driving style. If you've got your foot the the floor and it shifts into, or out of 5th, pretty much guarantee you'll limp it.

As far as EGT's, unloaded I've never had an issue on any Predator setting with my 4" straight pipe and LBZ MP. However I can fairly easily get over 1300 towing 7k on the 40hp setting. I would get gauges before you tow. It doesn't look like you've replaced your MP.... you should.

1.) I've adjusted my tires size and it seems to not make a difference on what my odometer or speedometer measures. I've tried reflashing the computer several times. Don't know what to suggest here other than trial and error until you get it close with a gps.

2.) I don't have gauges either, I run conservatively on the 40hp setting and it seems to do alright. I never hold it down much longer than 2 shifts at a time (see sig, i'm manual) which really isn't much. If it hold it out to 3k though it really opens up and I blow smoke at each shift, even on 40hp settings. Sometimes I break tires loose (more than a chirp them) at 2-3 on cool morning. I think empty stock, with stock exhaust you'll be ok on 40hp.

3.) Way out of the question IMO until you modify your transmission. Especially the kind of playing you're talking about, which usually ends up to more of hard time than driving for a week at the same setting. Looks like our exhausts are similar.

I don't tow more than ~5k right now so I wouldn't know if I had a problem on 40hp with no gauges, but I never get hot or show any signs of high EGTs. That said I hardly drop 6th gear with my loads so I might be on edge. I suggest EGT gauges asap, I would have some already but I haven't figured out how I want to butcher up my truck yet.

Forgot to mention I haven't seen much of an improvement in everday mileage. I did get right at 20.6 mpgs highway driving from Houston to Austin a couple months ago. I suppose that's decent considering I had the cruise set at 75mph for as long as I could (slow areas and such). I'm almost turning 2400 rpms at that speed.
