My grandpa had something very similar to that made when he bought his 1990 F350 and its still in there to this day and looks pretty much the same as it did in 1990 just not quite so shiny. He had a friend do it though, I dont think it was anywhere near that cost. The same guy also built welded aluminum boats for us.

Does he have and cushion between it and the liner? If not, its gonna scratch up his bed something fierce.

Not my look but what ever floats your boat. My question, isn't this asking for trouble down the street without a liner between the two metals. Aluminum and steel don't play well together I thought.

Wow, that's just sick. A whole lot more money that I would have spent, but it's your truck. Dare to be different!:p:

$4300... wow. That seems pretty steep to me. There's maybe $500 worth of floor plate there. I own a fab shop, certified steel and aluminum, and we did one similar to that on a Ford long box about two years ago. I had one of my apprentices fab it up and charged him $2000... cash. For $4300 he should of had a built in tidy tank or tool box included.

I had thought about doing that to my truck. Guess I'll go a different route now atleast a different design may stick with the diamond plate though. Looks great!!

Well the extra could be accounted for pretty quick if it wasn't an apprentice (regular shop rate) and wasn't paid for in cash plus he wrote it off as a business expense so i don't think he cared to much.

Cost aside, you gotta give credit to the creativeness and craftsmanship there. Pretty cool and unique idea!

Even still... at say, $72/hr shop rate and 20% mark-up, it would have taken 45 man hrs, at which I'd have a problem with if it took that long in my shop. Don't get me wrong, it looks well built and the welds look solid... it's just hard for me to justify the cost. Also, apprentice or not, I still charge the same shop rate and cash just means... no tax.

Awesome bed liner. I could get behind something like that, definitely. But, heck, the liner'd cost more than my truck.

Looks to me like after removing the 5th wheel it would probably lift right out.

Looks nice, but, appears to be more show than go.

No tool box, no tie downs for cargo... Slick as snot if you put anything in it.

Throw a liner in it and it'd make a great hillbilly pool!!!

Drill the rivets out and it'll come right out. It's actually made around the gooseneck hitch so it'll lift right out.

He doesn't have anything related to performance on his truck whatsoever. It's bone stock so he can keep a warranty.

It looks cool and is probably very strong. For my money, I can buy a TON of fuel. I didn't want to destroy my bed, so I got myself a $20 plastic bedliner off of craigslist. I have hauled so much stuff in the bed of my truck i'm definitely getting my $20 worth.
