i have a 2005 chevy 2500 hd crew cab duramax. summit white lt edition silverado. Tan interior. Oem wheels with 285.75.16 maxxis mudders on it 10 ply.
Here is my issue. The clearcoat is peeling on the rims so I want to replace them. I currently live in Michigan so salt/winters will be an issue to certainly consider. I will attach an eagle rim I have found that i like so far. I am trying to decide on wheel and tire size combos as well. I have the leveling kit with edge evolution cts programmer, 4 inch exhaust, are cold air intake, and high performance fuel filter. Looking to get into more off an all terrain tire. The maxxis are great for offroading but not so good on pavement. I am driving my truck more now and I won't be needing as aggressive tread.
I like the conservative look so I don't want to go crazy. I will be pulling 10k+ loads from time to time. Possibly more so I need something that will be stable.
I have looked at the Nitto a/t's as well as others. You guys on here probably have forgotten more about this than I will ever know so help me out with some suggestions. Pics of the combos on your trucks would be very helpful.
I am a hunter so I will be in some mud at times but I try to avoid as much as possible in lieu of damaging the properties I hunt on. I am not a mudder. I went with the maxxis mudder previously because it really grips good and doesnt spin as much. Now that I am driving my truck daily I am going to have to go to more of an a/t tire.
Thanks in advance for your help...
If you have any dealers you would recommend I am all ears as well...

You might consider keeping the stock rims and the Maxxis mudders for hunting season and look for new wheels and tires for the rest of the year. Several members have had the clear stripped off their stock aluminum wheels and had them powder coated black. You could look into that or see about a set of take offs.

I am at the other end of the country; snow and salted winter roads are not a concern down here, so I can't speak to what tire is best in those conditions, but I would think that the Michelin LTX MS in 285-75-16 or equivalent might be a good choice. They will not perform off road, especially if you are used to the mudders during hunting season. You may also be disappointed in the performance of ATs both on icy roads and off road.

I have run BFG AT KOs for 43,000 miles on stock rims, and thought they were a good tire. I currently run Mastercraft Courser AT2s, and they do OK off road, but they are not nearly as aggressive as a mudder or even a mud terrain radial. I have been looking around for a set of H2 wheels for the right price, and if I find them, I might get some Michelins for the road and put some mud terrains on the stock rims for hunting season. It is not that big of a pain to change them over in the fall, and then go back to road tires after hunting season.

Thanks for the input. I grew up in Mississippi so you are correct snow and ice are mostly an afterthought. I have considered doing just that and keeping two sets of tires. It doesn't take long to switch them over. The mudders are great for hunting. They don't do so well in snow and ice. Not enough surface touching I think. Diesel torque is tough for trying not to spin.

anyone else. I would also like to see pics of white duramax trucks with black or black and chrome wheels.
Ideas, advise and tips are welcomed and appreciated. This is a big investment so I want to get it right the first time.

Dale Earnhart Jr. has several cool looking rims as well as the Monsters, etc....
Tire choices so far are nitto trail grapplers and goodyear duratracs. Other options are welcomed. Probably going to go with a 17" wheel possibly 18" and a 285/60 tire.
