Its not a hard install and if you want the steering wheel controls to work you will need the harness for it. As for the Bose harness I know people who have done it with out but its a pain to get everything to equal out like factory, the bose harness also controls the chime noise for when your doors open, you leave your lights on , or your keys are in the ign. This is all originally controled through your factory stereo system the new bose box goes behind the radio and has a little speaker on it.

As long as you get the right adapter. I believe you need the PAC OS2 BOSE adapter. Read the sticky at the top of the electrical section. Then go on ebay.

I like Alpine headunits and the installation in these trucks are so easy, especially compared to other vehicles.

Buy it from a store and not online cause if you have a bad one or a problem you just take it back swap it out for a new one. there all about the same price and you might only save a few dollars online

I just put a new head unit in my truck, the wire harness through a respected car stereo shop in Ft. Wayne was $171.20. I asked why they cost so much, they said they don't skimp on this harness b/c they have seen the cheaper ones fry the harness itself and on a couple of occasions they have seen them fry the ECU....

I don't see how it could fry the ECM. Possibly the BCM, which controls all the body electronics, but it has nothing to do with the engine...

I think they fed you some crap... I use Scosche for my harnesses since they are cheaper, more readily available, and do the same thing.

they could have said BCM, I just heard *CM, figured it was ECM.

Ditto. I run the scosche harness (no Bloz). It's cheap and works.
