I didn't know where to put this so here it is.
The dealer offered me $32000 for my truck on a trade-in on a LML, it has 20,500 miles on it and is in perfect shape. Does anyone know what they are actually selling for? I know what trade-in is and what private party blue book is but what are the 08's actually selling for, less or a little more than blue book? Thanks for help.

Looks like the dealer would sell it between 35-38k.

Are you getting a discount on the new truck? That would go on top of the trade-in money to see what your really getting for it.

The sticker is 52,800 and they would sell it for 47,800, plus ttl. I'm probably goin to end up at another dealer and or try sell it on my own, but then I lose the sales tax savings.

I sold mine private party but ran it through as an in-and-out through my dealer so i could get the tax credit. My LMM had 70k when I sold it for $35k two weeks ago. I sold it with all of the aftermarket stuff on it, and I only sold it for $35k because we worked a deal with him buying my truck and me buying his '69 Camaro. The trucks on eBay seem to sell well. I'd tell them you want $35k for trade or you're walking out. You'll find their top dollar for your trade and bottom dollar for their vehicle when you try to walk out. :) If they don't get to the number at least you'll know what trade is showing for real-world value.

Google autotrader trade in marketplace, describe your truck as honest as possible and they will give you a guaranteed trade value. It will show you local dealers that accept the trade guarantee.

I used it twice first when i traded my 06 LBZ ccsb with a few dents, lots of scratches, 131,000 miles , and i got a little over $23k for it. The few local dealers offered $17-18k. Second time i traded an 02 Trans Am 97k miles, local dealers offered 8-8.5k, with the trade guarantee i got $11,300 for it. Its worth a shot, good luck.

Just tried autotrader trade in and it came back 22.3k for my 05. Not bad, but a probably 2k less then I'd take.

What Trevor said.
Have the Dealer do the paperwork, and it is sold "As is, No Dealer Warantee". Now the Dealer can write it up as a trade-in, and you only pay sales tax on the difference.
The Dealer may charge you $50 or $100 to do the paperwork, but he gets a new truck sale with it.

There was a 2008 Pewter gmc 2500hd, slt CC 4x4 duramax with all the candy that sold for $40200 this past wednesday at the Tyler, Tx Auction. Super clean truck with 45,000 miles on it. I bid it to 30k. used Diesel trucks are selling for a premium in this part of the country.

Like everyone said,, sell it yourself and run it thru your dealer.

We just sold one for $36,000 that was very similar to this. But it was sold through one of our truck locator services so the price was a little higher than average.

A fair price would be what the dealer could currently get at auction for the truck. I recently traded in my 2008 Sierra 2500 gasser, and got $27k for it. The dealer showed me a query of recent auction sales on similarly equipped vehicles. The query showed date of sale and mileage. I think this is also what the Edmunds and KBB trade-in values reference. It also depends if you negotiated pricing on your new vehicle first. I ALWAYS force them to give me a trade-in price first, then I tell that what I will pay for the new truck. On my new 2011 LML Ext Cab 4x4, the sticker price was $53k. I paid $40k ($100 under invoice, and $9k in rebates, GM card money, and buyback assistance). Net after trade was $13k, and about 7-8k of this was just the LML/Allison option. Of course the dealer is going to balk at it, because they want to make more money. However, if you do your research on both the buy and sell side of it, you will come out much better. Also, my new truck was ordered, and not off the lot.

We got $34,500 for our 07 classic C/C longbed 3500 dually LT with 19,200 miles on it on trade. But we had put every option including woodgrain dash and sterring wheel on our truck that you could have that didn't come with the truck. Just make sure if they give you more for trade, that they aren't writing it in on your new purchase. I alway's make my best deal with no trade and then go back and throw in the trade. they don't like it, but it keeps them more realistic on your $$.

Yup, that's the best thing to do, otherwise they screw you at one end. I actually like to do separate transactions, but $ wise that doesn't always work for people.
