Just turned 1000 miles and changed the oil. The filter came right off easily, and there wasn't a smudge on the drain plug magnet! Also checked milage today and got 19.5 mpg just driving around. This truck has to be one of the last 05's made. I took delivery on june 25, and the build date in the door jamb is 6/05 from the Pontiac plant. When I put my CD player in, the dash cover had a 6/7/05 sticker in it. My frame even has a big "06" on the frame sticker. Maybe GM corrected some of the problems before this one came off the line. I couldn't be happier with this truck. Just thought I would post something positive today!:ro)

I must have picked a good one too.
However mine was built in the first week of February 04. (the first of the LLYs)
No problems to speak of. Gets 22.5 MPG on the freeway, (With a little help from Propane)
No oil usage and no overheating issues pulling over 10,000 pounds.
I really don't understand why most all of these LLYs run like a dream while a few seem to have a couple of the same issues. There is no rhyme or reason to it. It isn't solely related to when the trucks were built either.

I do hope the occasional cooling issues have been solved in the late 05s because I am going to pick up a new 05 CC D/A 2500 HD for my Father tomorrow. He has been thoroughly converted over from the Dodge camp since I got my 04.5.:ro)

It sure feels good to hear that your rigs are running well, after spending some time in the overheating threads it was begining to make me wonder????????I only have 800miles on mine and love it so far (first diesel) I sure hope that I can say the same next month travelling through the Rockies with my 10K fifth.Cheers

It is good that there was no metal on the drain plug, as there isn't as magnet on it to my knowledge...

It is good that there was no metal on the drain plug, as there isn't as magnet on it to my knowledge... My 2000 Z71 had one so I just ASSumed the end was magnetic, maybe not. Thanks for the update.
