Hi all, I'm looking at purchasing a 2002 chevy duramax with roughly 180,000 miles. The carfax report shows nothing about the injectors ever being changed. This is a common problem with these engines though. So my question is, What is the probability that this truck has the orignal injectors, or do you think they have been changed and just never documented? Is there a way to physically look at them and notice if they've been replaced?

Thanks for the help!!

PS The truck seems to be running fine

You cannot tell if they have been changed by looking at them.

The easiest way to check if they have been changed is to call a Chevrolet dealer, and give the service department the VIN, then ask them if the have been changed under warranty, and how many miles it had when they changed them.

I usually ask them to tell me all the warranty work that has been done to the truck while I am at it!

Based on what I've read in these forums, they have probably been replaced at least once, probably twice. I just bought an 02 with 129,000. As much as it costs and as often as it happens, I'm going to learn how to change them myself one way or another. Lot's of good advice in the DIY section.
