Can anyone tell me the load range on the Toyo Open Country LT285/70/17 ? The weight rating isn't way up there so I'm thinking it is only a C-rated tire, hope it's a D. Anybody running these, opinions?
Looking for some 285's for my H2s and there doesn't seem to be to many options in this size. IMHO BFGs are too over priced. I may even step down to a Cooper ATR LT275/70/17 but they are only a C rated tire as well...

You know they do have a website with the specs.

I have'em. I love'em. They're nearly wore out and I have over 50k miles on them. I have my replacement Toyo Open Country A/T treads already mounted and ready to go. They're load range Ds.

Thanks exactly what I was looking for. For some reason the website does not have the load range only the weight capacity. At least I can't find it...

Why would you want the load range when the weight capacity spells it out in pounds. MUCH more specific than the letter rating system.

The load range tells you the number of plies the tires have. The E is a 10 ply, the D a 8, so on and so forth. There is much more to the toughness of a tire then how much weight it can carry. Obviously the more plies a tire has the tougher the tire SHOULD be. In this case IIRC the Cooper 275 vs Toyo 285 tires there is only 155lbs of weight capacity difference. I knew from the website the Cooper is a "C" and would assume the same of the Toyo since the larger size should increase the capacity.
I rarely will carry any more weight then a 1/2 ton can carry but I am worried about getting flats in the pasture from the many hazzards; cactus, thorns, stumps, sharp rocks, etc. The extra strength of a D in the Toyo will make the decision a little easier.

I see what your saying, but....
If it's an 80psi tire, its an E
If it's a 50 or 60psi tire its a D
I wouldn't go lower than that (3000lb rating) on a pickup.
The ply rating is no longer 8 or 10 ply etc anyway. Thats just old tire talk.
