I believe that all chevrolet and GMC dealerships have to supply urea

I would say dealerships to start with and then more places will start carrying it.

There are several threads dealing with this question already, but basically you can get it cheap at truck stops like Flying J and Pilot, and at all auto parts places.

Yes you can get it at truck stops as well. Be sure to look on the back and see the use date. GM DEF has a shelf life of a year. Your DIC will have an indicator for the level of DEF left in the 5.3 gal tank in miles left. At 40 miles left top speed is reduced to 55mph and at I think 5 or 10 miles left speed is reduced to 4mph.

Flying J has it, 11.99 for 2.5 gallons. Dealers will zip you about 21 bucks for 2.5 gallons. O'reilly Auto parts, $4.99 a gallon.

When I was looking at the Sierra and Silverado at a truck show in May the GM rep told me that the trucks will be delivered to the dealers with a full DEF tank, an extra container of DEF fluid, and a funnel to use when filling the tank. The filler is in an awkward position under the hood and just in front of the firewall on the passenger side.

I believe your Rep was inaccurate. The factory puts in 2.5 gallons of DEF. Maybe some dealers will fill it up prior to delivery.

The 2.5 gallon DEF that GM sells, and also the 2.5 gallon Blue DEF (at Flying J and O'Reilly Auto Parts) have a hose with an integral breather to assist in getting the DEF in the tank and not everywhere else. The one gallon bottles of Blue DEF do not have a hose and you WILL need a funnel.

Thanks redeagle313. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if a rep or dealer had it wrong. They often know MUCH less than users of dieselplace.

Up here in the middle of no where, a truck supply shop sells it for $13.99 Canadian for a may 2.5 gal container. If you are heading to Alaska it might help.
