Just wondering before I hit the 6 digit mark whether I should have anything checked in with the dealer to make sure my manufacturers warranty can still be used.

I would have turbo vane sensor and solenoid checked, seems like they go out around 70K.

Tranny lines. I think this question was asked before and if I remember the dealer wouldn't look it over without charging for it. Let me search for the thread.

Tranny lines are currently leaking, Is there a company that makes them in steel braided and new fittings? I'm in a hurry to get the transmission serviced and new lines in so my tranny quits getting up in the 200 temp mark.

Thanks, WP. That's exactly what I was looking for. IS there a member special price on that website? :)

That line kits says you need a tubing cutter. If they are fully assembled they why would you need a tubing cutter?

Any one use this kit before is it any good.

Carful how you word it to your dealer.... if you just tell them to look the truck over to see if anything needs work before your warranty expires they'll likely refuse.

Basically, the dealer fixes problems you bring in... they can't try to drum up warranty work. I think it's against their contract with the factory or something. Different dealers may be different about it but mine told me they can't just look for problems.

You best bet might be to take it to a good mechanic and pay him to diagnose all problems for you...just go over everything top to bottom. From there take the list of problems to the dealer before it runs out of warranty and get everything fixed.

You will be out the charge for the mechanic (minimal) but might save you a big chunk of change in the long run.

I am a believer in "if it ain't broke don't fix it" however I do belive in preventative maintanence. At 98,000 I did a total bumper to bumper fluid change. I did not change the antifreeze yet. I will wait till summer of 2011. It is supposed to be good for 150,000
and still looks good. I did this also at 50,000. My truck is 4x4 so it cost a little more than 2x4. All fluids oils and gear lubes about $150.00. The only thing I let the dealer do is power flush the tranny.

GREAT ADVICE! I myself would be looking at the transfer case as that is the biggest item. Bearings are probably ok. The front end is probably getting a little loose but those are "wear items".

I don't know...I never checked it out. I have had it done at the dealership once since new, at 50,000 miles and have had zero problems. Maybe they don't do it and say they did and are just charging me for it??????? I need to do some research

The Hoot method for flushing the trans is fine. You pump out a gallon and replace, so on and so forth. After you go thru 4 or 5 gallons then most of the original is gone and you have new trans fluid.
