Need some wisdom here folks..

I recently noticed a slight (pinhole) leak between the turbo and exhaust flange. We have a Chevy P30 Motorhome FC Chassis with the 6.5L F motor and side mounted turbo. To remove the turbo appears to be a royal PITA and we are in the midst of prime RVing season. I did check the nuts and they appear tight and the leak is really quite slight. Other considerations are 8 seasons in salt/salty climates and a reasonable amount of rust on all the fastneners:( . I am almost willing to take it into a shop as I see rusted/seized/broken studs/nuts/bolts in my future...

What's the prognosis should I continue to drive on it for another 5 months. One thought is that as there isn't a gasket between them I could , hopefully, loosen everything up enough to separate the two and then put a steel gasket with epoxy between the flanges rather than remove everything.

Would appreciate any ideas.....

Thanks

Don't worry about a leak after the turbine, pre-turbine is another story.

The leak is at the inlet flange from the exhaust pipe to the turbo (the square flange)....
I am in Kerrville (NW of San Antonio)...know of any good GM shops???

Not really but I'll help if you require it.
If it's the square flange gasket that's leaking that's one thing, it would mean pulling the turbo off the exhaust flange. If it's a single hole rusted through the manifold you might be able to fill it. I also have a spare exhaust manifold I bought at a truck salvge if it's not fixable.

Turns out the main leak is at the manifold/head at the rear of the turbocharger and NOT at the manifold/turbo. Although one of the 2 rear nuts was loose on the turbo flange.

The shop had a heck of job removing the manifold to head fasteners and have ordered new ones and a gasket. They will also put an aftermarket gasket between the turbo and flange, just for insurance!

All good news today......:)
