Hey guys...I have an air problem that I can't figure out. The part is on the passenger side underneath the back door by the muffler and air tank. Attached are pictures of the part.

When I crawled underneath I heard the air coming out of the left side of the part and a short piece(4") of rubber attached. Obviously the hose belongs there but did it go somewhere originally? When I pulled the rubber hose off I can hear a small amount of air coming out of the place where the hose goes(Pic2).

Any help will be appreciated cause I'm tired of the compressor running all the time....:damnit1: Thanks ahead of time!!

looks like you have some build up of some sort on there that might be the culprit. Spray it with some cleanser and go get the black plastic cap that goes there that looks like this.

you know my truck does not have anything even close to what that looks like. the closest is what I put above. Sorry !

Looks like your ride height valve dump port for your air suspension. I think (at least on big rigs) that would be the exhaust port of the valve. It allows the excess air to exit and lower your bags.

Soundsgreat

Have your ride height valves checked. Mine went bad at about 120k miles, would slowly leak out and cause my compressors to cycle constantly  I wound up buying new valves, new dump valve and 2 new compressors but went with Viair 480C's, more psi and 100% duty cycle and I got both for less than one Link compressor. Oh and by the way, much much less noise.

Is that on the air-ride compressor or is it the one under drivers' side?

If it is the driver side, it is the one for the air-seats and the air-horns.
The T'd side is the incoming so it goes to the seats regardless of whether the solenoid is picked up or not. The solenoid energizes when you toot the horns. The single line should go to the horns.

Get the soap solution sprayer after it and see where the leak(s) are.

Already checked the air leak. It's definitely slowly coming out of the valve on the left side where the nozzle is. Maybe I didn't clarify my question...

Is there supposed to be a line running from the valve somewhere else since there is obviously is a nipple for a line and there was a short piece of hose attached to it(maybe broke off?)?

And what is the valve called because I suspect it's gone bad so I may need to order one??

Thanks guys...sorry for the poor question..:duh:

My guess is that you have and air ride cab and that is the leveling valve for the cab suspension air. Looks a lot like the ones for air ride suspension. I don't have air ride on my cab so I can't say for sure. May be time for some new seals or a new valve.

Thanks guys...I'm going to pull it off and clean it up to see what's up. It's continuously releasing air out of the air tank because nothing is settling so all the valves should be tight except for this one. I didn't think about the cab air....I think I'll dump the bed and see if it's the rearend or cab...

This is the leveling valve for your air ride cab. I experience the same problem from time to time and have found that by temporarily disconnecting the linkage and moving the arm to it's up and down limit a few times seems to resolve the air leak. The short piece of tubing is the vent tube and is not connected to anything. I picked up a spare from Monroe but haven't changed it yet. The valve is made by Hadley.

Thanks!! Yep, I dumped the bed air and it comes out the drivers side valve so I figured it was cab. Hopefully I'll get it pulled loose and cleaned up this week. I guess I'll have to get one ordered... How did you order yours? Is there a number on it for a reference? Thanks again!!

I ordered mine through Monroe. Their part number is H00450DP. I think I paid $50 or so. On my truck, the nuts for the mounting bolts are tucked behind the airbag and are very difficult to get to. It's the reason why I haven't changed mine yet. If you change yours, please let me know how you you were able to get to the nuts.

I guess I'm really confused. The valve is under the truck so why would it be behind the airbag?

:duh: Sorry I just figured out what you were saying...I just ordered the new valve from Monroe...Thanks!!

Got the cab air part from Monroe and they were great to work with. The $53 was worth it because it works and the noisy compressor doesn't run now.

It was a bugger to change out. The bolts going thru the part have a nut on the backside where an airbag is in the way. So for the top bolts I used a long 1/4 inch drive extension to get it off. Then the bottom one(the worst) came off by assuming a position that is undescribable to get a wrench in.

Once it was off then I had to put the nut in the socket and got the top one started and tightened. The bottom one had to be started by hand in the same position as before. After dropping the nut about 10 times and using a magnetic retreiver, I finally got it started and a wrench on it. So, 2 hours later it works!!

Glad you got it fixed Wingnusa! I'm surprised the valve wasn't twice the price, seems like everything is double the price on these things.

I was shocked by the price too!! They wanted $400 labor:eek: plus the part at the stealership.... Saved some big bucks for some aggravation!!
