The original tires on my Weekend Warrior FSC2800 Toy Hauler need to be replaced due to dry rot. Looking to upgrade from 15" to 16" while I'm at it. Any recommendations? Anyone know what size I can fit under this trailer without rubbing? I hear many folks are going from a ST tire to an LT tire on these heavy trailers. Anyone know where I can get a package deal?
Thanks!

Once you get to 16" it brings in a whole ton of great tires. Look at the Michelin ones. Before you spend the coin on 16" wheels look at the Maxxis E rated 15" tires though, (80 psi). I like my Maxxis tires a whole bunch!

Which Maxxis tire is it that you have ST or LT, and where did you get them???

I had thought about going up to a 16" rim on my 5th wheel. I found it difficult to find a 16" rim with a 5 lug bolt pattern.
So I was going to go with a 15" LT rated tire, but they are wimpy. One of the tire places brought out a LT tire and a ST tire. Told me to look at the sidewalls. LT sidewalls were soft and squishy even by hand. ST tires had thick strong sidewalls. Now it looked like the LT 16" tires had some pretty strong sidewalls. The Michelin X ribs sounded great, but spendy.

I borrowed the spare off a buddy's trailer today. It's an LT235/80R16 and put it on my trailer. It rubs. The LT225 E has a lower weight rating than the 15" ST225 E, so I'm just going to stick with the size I have and replace all 5.

Neighbor of mine went from 15s to 16s on his 5er, but it cost him a LOT of money with new rims and ST tires. I asked him about using LTs, but he said that he checked on warranty and it would only be warranted with an ST solution (sidewall flex).

+1 on Maxxis if you decide to go ST - Good quality tires.

I put Hercules ST's on our fiver when I replaced all 4 three years ago and they too have turned out to be EXCELLENT tires - I've had them coast to coast (and lots of places in between) and have done nothing except add air occasionally. Hercules is a well regarded brand with plenty of dealers all over North America should you ever need warranty - another consideration.

I emailed Michelin and they confirmed the 16" Ribs are rated less than the 15" ST's.

st's might be rated higher, they can rate them what ever they want, go compare them side by side you will see the all steel mich is a much better tire. there is no way the st is 1/2 the tire!!!

STs are rated higher in capacity, but in a big (ST235/80R16) tire, they are all made in China...at least every tire in my town in that size was made there. So I went to an LT235/85R16. It's rating is less, but still is okay for my rig AND they are not made in China!

I hear ya. My problem is the 235's won't fit under my trailer.
