I have the factory indash 6disk Bose system w/ XM and have been thinking of upgrading to an aftermarket Kenwood with Sirius. My question is: will my rear entertainment system still function if I remove the stock headunit? Logic says yes, but I want to be sure before I spend another $1200 replacing the HU.TIA,

You can get a Sirius adapter that works with the stock head unit. Just like XM. You can even use the stock XM antenna (if your truck has XM). The DVD player still might work with the wireless headphones, but you definetly wouldnt be able to hook it up to an aftermarket head unit. The reason being that the audio outputs from the DVD player are switched on and off via Class II data from the stock radio. So the audio outputs are only enabled when the stock radio sends a data message to the DVD unit. Without a radio to send this Class II data message, the outputs are turned off and useless. Just to make sure it still even works with the head phones, try unplugging the radio and using the wireless headphones. They MAY work...but Im postive the audio outputs from it will not work with an aftermarket head unit. Sorry about that!

Is your rear entertainment system overhead, or built into the center council? Thanks.

Duratothe Max-Where can I get the Sirius adapter... Show the way and you will make my day! I hate XM and love Sirius! If it uses the XM antanae; even better! Yes, my truck is equipped with XM.WI Huck - my rear DVD is overhead mounted and I ordered it from the factory installed.
