That is the quote to change the two front hubs on my 2004 4x4 gmc.

I did both sides myself for $400. I would never pay that much. You can get them cheap from dmaxstore.com and a bunch of other vendors off this site. Fairly easy job to do yourself as well. I'm pretty sure there is a DIY thread on how to change them.

I've done enough of them by now I can do each side at about 45 minutes. I would never pay more than $200 for anybody to change both sides. And thats at $100 an hour for labor. It doesn't require alot. Look at what you got find the right tools, lay them out, and go for it.

Where I work we charge $150 per side Labor plus whatever the hubs cost.
Once I have the truck on the lift I'd say I can change one out in 15 to 20 min no problem. They are pretty easy to change anyone can change these if they have the tools

21mm socket for the caliper bracket
15mm socket for the hub bolts
36mm socket for the axle nut
unhook the wheel speed sensor and ur done

Yea I got quoted like 500-600 bucks for one side at the dealer. They were trying to press me into letting them do it right away on the spot. They then proceeded to tell me if I didn't let them fix it right away that my wheel would fall off... I ended up buying one from dmaxstore and changing it out in one hour...

WOW! That is all I can say. If the stealership can get that, my shop labor rates are WAY too low. Personally I recommend looking elsewhere. As stated, it's not a terrible job to change these out.

I got pretty much the same story. I told them I would take my chances and went across the street to napa. I got the bearing for $200 less than the dealer price then did it myself. It took me about 1.5 hours but 45 mins of that was fighting to get the lug nuts then wheel off. Those suckers were on there crazy tight. I needed a 4 ft bar to finally break the lugs free.

Completely ridiculous. I went to a local shop who wanted $900 for both, including parts and labor. I checked the site and bought Timkens with lifetime warranties for just under $200 each. (Dmaxstore) A buddy had done them before, so I went to his house and got it done in an hour, with plenty of time to drink beer. (1 hour per wheel.)

There's a great post on here that tells you everything you need to know. I think McRatt posted it. Super easy to follow.

if you can change a tire you can change a wheel bearing.post dealer names that are ripping people off, that may change their attitude. 1500.00 is outright theft.

Well I talked to the guy and he picked up the truck and it was 1436.52. I told him he got the extra large shaft and he said I want the truck rite when you pick it up.I am buying this truck from him and he is in N.J. So the the STEALSHIP is in N.J.

Labor was $75 for the one side (left). The job took the gent at DelRey Tire on S. Cherry (near Jensen) about 25 minutes. The part was marked up pretty good but the mgr is a friend and he shared lots of other info with me on alignments -so a fair trade on the parts mark up in my opinion.

Upon hearing $1500 - I would immediately initiate the "may I speak with the service manager" question.

What do you think about that ? ? ? ?

did the deslership use a condom before they ask you to bend over, or did they just rape you. You can do it yourself with just a couple of hand tools, using this threat http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=71798, and buy some new bearings. Take the remaining $ and take a vacation. just my two cents.

The funny thing is how some people balk at my quotes.
