04 2500HD Duramax.

Just repaired from a crash. Starts and runs fine.went into forward and reverse before it was completly buttoned up.
But now that all headlights airbags etc.... have been replaced it now will not allow me to move the shift lever from the PARk position.

Sounds like the safety solenoid that won't allow you to take the truck out of park without your foot on the brake. You may not have everything hooked up. If it starts, then it is probably not a security system problem. Someone else will probably have to chime in to help figure out how to trouble shoot this interlock.

I agree with smokindmax.

i didn't know there was a solynoid tho. I thought it was just a cable thing.

oh well, i just crawled under mine and it looks like an electrical hook up. check to see if it is hooked up and while there make sure the cable lincage is still hooked up. You can see both conections on the driverside on the allison tranny. if nothing else, unhook and rehook the electrical conection to see if that gets it working.

just to add,the body shop was obviously in the column area.they may have plugged the connector to the shft lock actutator in but it did not snap in all of the way.you shifted a few times which moves the actuator and it disconnects.pull th hush panel and knee bulster, look for a green connector that may be disconnected.should be one on the right side of the column near the column shifter and another on the left side below the turn lever.also try what I mentioned about shifting it in the acc position.this may avoid havibg it towed.
