I installed my Drawtite Activator II (yeah I know, I need a Prodigy) from my old truck and the drivers and rear view mirrors now intermittantly dim even though it is daylight and not that all that bright out. The drivers side mirror stays with it for a while and the rearview goes back to normal after a minute or two. Has this happened to anyone else? I used the factory harness and everything was pretty straight forward.

Did you hook it up correctly. Drawtite has four wires, new truck plug has five. The brown wire should not be hooked up.

Ditto on the hook up. I have installed over a hundred activator II 's without having that problem. Any good Draw-Tite dealer would check it out for you at no charge.

Oh yeah. It isn't brain surgery to hook up with the harness that was included with the truck. The output from the Activator was different from the harness but I used the card attached to the harness and the schematic in the instructions for the controller to match up the right wires...from the controller to the harness - drk blu to drk blu, white to blk, blk to red, red to light blu, brown wrapped (If memory serves me). The controller is working right with no error message but when the harness is plugged in the mirrors behave strangely. They usually go back to normal after a while but sometimes not. If I unplug the harness from the power panel they go normal immediately.

As a followup - the problem is not related to the controller connection. It just happened that the week that I installed the controller was rainey. I have disconnected the controller from the harness and when it is wet outside it still goes into highest level of dimming. When dry....nothing. I am sure that there is a short in the side mirror which is causing it when wet. I haven't gone to the dealer yet but will do so when I get a chance.
