Hello all, I am new to the forum and I have an 08 Sierra that came factory with the Bose setup. I recently purchased a nav system part# 15940102 off ebay that came with the map dvd version 2. When I hooked up the navigation the screen was white and showed "Cannot load system software, disk type incorrect, please insert correct disk" I put the dvd in and it does nothing. I can push all of the buttons and nothing happens. I had the truck to a dealer to unlock it and it still doesnt work, they couldnt figure out the issue. They even tried an updated software disc. Everything is hooked correctly including the gps antenna and vss harness. I then shipped it to Wow Electronics where they told me today it is the upper cd drive and it would cost $435 to fix. Has anyone seen this before? Does $435 to fix the drive seem correct? Does anyone have any other suggestions of where else to take it for repair? Thanks for any suggestions!

Man! I sent my '05 TNR in to SPECMO for a new screen, and it was $180. BUT $435? you are approaching the cost of the unit at that rate.

If it's the NBS, the Nav disk goes into a slot behind the screen and not above it. Those units have 2 slots. You have to look into the menu and when a couple of buttons are pushed, the touchscreen slides down and out to reveal the slot for the Nav disk. Upper slot is for CD's and DVDs....

Thanks for the responses! It does have the two drives, and they are saying it is the top cd/dvd drive. Which the tech and the dealership that unlocked it thought it might be the bottom dvd drive because when he put in the software update disc it still didn't do anything. So I really don't understand how the top drive being out would cause my problem, and how it could cost $435 to fix.

So I have been constantly searching online of my problem and actually saw that some Cadillac people have had this issue when their battery went dead. They then put in a system software disc and it was resolved. The dealer put in a software disc without success, is there more than one system disc? If so, does anyone know of which system disc I would need for part# 15940102 nav unit? Thanks
