Hi, I am looking into getting a CUCV 1 ton truck. I have heard good and bad things about the 6.2. The main thing im "worried" about is the power out put, I know that this engine wont make tons of hp but if I put the Banks Sidewinder turbo and Stinger exhaust on what kind of hp would it make? Do I have to get a specail diesel muffler or can I use any muffler I want? What kind of miledge would I get with and without the turbo? I will be using this as my daily driver and off raod/tow rig. Thanks for any advice.

Banks advertises their sidewinder turbo at about 207 hp and 385 torque at the flywheel. Your truck will probably have 4.56 gears, which are too low for a turbo motor unless you plan on running 35 inch tires and then they are still a little low. A turboed 6.2 runs very well with 3.73 gears and 31 inch tires. Adjust gear ratio to match these rpms with other tire sizes. The banks kit comes with a free flowing diesel muffler, or ditch the muffler and run a straight pipe. The biggest key to added power is having enough fuel to match your new found forced air.;)
