Any of you guys ever towed across the Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel. I've never driven across it at all, let alone towed across it. Just want to know if there's anything I need to plan for. My trailer has 2 30 lbs LP cylinders. I checked the regulations and it looks like they will need to be valved off on the way across. Ill be headed there the end of august

It can be tight as with most tunnels but you should be fine. Traffic can be a pain depending on time of day and once your in the tunnel lanes your going across :D.

Enjoy the ride. It's a pretty neat trip across especially when you see a big ship going across the tunnel you're just about to enter.
Like Sgt said the tunnels are tight but you'll be fine.
If I remember, after the second tunnel there is a rest stop you can stop at and your ticket is good for a free soda.

There is never bad traffic on that bridge unless they have a tunnel half blocked late at night. It costs 12 to get across and 6 more for every axle. I used to go across it all the time. Just watch out for the wind if it is windy they will shut it down for trucks. I had a cooler in the bed of my truck wratchet strapped down they made me put it inside. On the bridges there are 2 lanes going the same way in the 2 tunnels there are 2 lanes going opposite ways. Watch out for cops they sit in the emergency pull offs and as soon as you come out of the tunnels in the turnarrounds.

yes, its a cool ride, I take my 32ft fifth wheeler with no trouble, the signs tell you when to pull off and turn off your propane and then a lot to side off to turn it back on, have fun.

Its actually funny you say that TEXASCOASTIE me and my wife went on a cruise out of baltimore,md and had to sail over one of the tunnels and we could see a cop pull somebody over he was sitting at the entrance to one of the tunnels running radar. I'm looking forward to the experiance should make for a cool trip

ALSO......Make sure you have CASH as they do not accept ANY other form of payment including EZ pass or any other electronic type payment. Assuming you are 4 axles the cost is $29 each way. One of the most expensive roads to drive per mile....13 miles divided by 29 is $2.23 per mile...BUT you will save several hours as well as fuel. Enjoy the ride is it really is something to see.

There is EZPASS on the BTB. It's for cars and pickup's.

$29 sounds cheap for those of us living in MARYLAND using bridges. Our HOPEFULLY one term governor decided that he needed to DOUBLE the tolls. It is actually far cheaper for me to bypass the I-95 Susquehanna river bridge and drive over the dam on US 1 and drive a lot of miles out of my way when towing. And I just groan crossing the Bay Bridge from Annapolis to the Eastern Shore.
