Suggestions here match my owners manual which state Dex-III ATF. I just changed mine last weekend.

Dextron III ATF is the one.

Only the trucks with "Auto-4WD" need the grape juice. All others use the ATF.

My manual for the 2005 sais to use Auto-trak fluid for auto 4x4. I know I don't have the "auto" 4x4, but this is the only fluid listed for a 4x4.

I know on my '02 the fluid was ATF. Is this the same for the '05? Is there just a misprint in the manual?

Thanks

Can a synthetic be used? What about using the Transyn (sp) from Allison, the synthetic they make for there trans, in the transfer case? This would make the number of different oils to carry less.

Thanks Brad

Many use synthetics exclusively. TransSynd will work, but it might be overkill, especially considering the price. I've been using Mobil1 ATF with good results, and cheaper.
