So im leaking diesel onto the ground. Its coming from the steel pipe going into the valve cover. second injector from the front driver side. is this an easy fix?

If the pipe you are referring to is the high pressure line between the rail and valve cover (see pic), it could be as easy as tightening the connections, 18mm end wrench. You may have to remove some stuff to get access, which is a pain.

I would caution against removing the line without removing the valve cover and cleaning. I think it would be too easy to get dirt inside the injector when re-inserting the line back through the valve cover. If the line is damaged, replacement may be necessary of course.

I have heard that corrosion or pitting can form where the lines connect to the rail and at the injector. Some times these can be polished with a green scrub pad and then carefully cleaned to remove all residue so that it does not get intorduced to the fuel system. Be careful.

Could you post a picture of the leak?

It is hard to diagnose without knowing exacly where it is leaking.

Try tightening the lines first without removal (18mm).
It takes a 5mm hex to remove the upper valve cover. You will need socket and extension. Up against the firewall it is really tight and difficult to work in there, plus you have to remove a bunch of stuff just to expose the valve cover. Check your oil, if you don't have diesel fuel in your oil, chances are it is not leaking under the valve cover.
Good luck.
