: Any exhaust systems w/ tip same size as pipe?
mountainstoner 07-13-2005, 10:11 PM I tried a search (love the search!) but had no luck - I hope someone out there feels my pain:
I don't like the look of tacking a one-inch-larger tip onto a tail pipe (you can't fool anyone with a truck that sits this high). I DO like the look of a shiny stainless tip. My problem is that I cannot locate a system that incorporates a nice tip onto a pipe of the same diameter, or even just a tip that has an inlet and outlet of the same size. Anybody seen a system out there that has what I am looking for?
Thanx! This place is great!
briano 07-13-2005, 10:33 PM I agree with you...it would be nice if the 4" section sticking out was chromed or something. I didn't opt for the bit tip either just for the reason you say..
Diesel Tech 07-13-2005, 11:01 PM If your looking for a 4" tip they can be had at Pep Boys and Auto Zone. Sometime they will have to order them but they can get them. If all else fales just get a piece of 4" SS and have it polished for a tip. We use a 5" tip becuse that was what most people wanted.
Mark Craig 07-14-2005, 12:49 PM mountainstoner,
WE have all the MBRP systems and we also have a 4 inch turn down built from 304 stainless. It gets the look you're after if you want a turn down, we also sell a lot of systems with no tip, if you get the 304 it's polished already and will stay that way too. If you get the 409 it's polished but you'll have to work at keeping it polished. Call us if you have any questions etc.

aegis 07-14-2005, 03:32 PM I have a magnaflow stainless 4" cat back. The tailpipe is stainless and looks good. I think Mark Craig is also on the right track. I did not want a large chrome pipe attached either.
mountainstoner 07-14-2005, 07:56 PM Mark,
Are you saying the entire length of the 304 system is polished, or just the end of the tailpipe?
Aegis - Is the magnaflow 304 or 409?
I would love to have one of the rolled double-walled stainless tips the same size as the pipe - I'll have to check at the parts shops...
Thanx everybody!
SLEEZ 07-14-2005, 11:58 PM I don't like the look of the tip. I have the MBRP w/out the tip, I just keep polishing up the stainless and it looks great.
Mark Craig 07-15-2005, 09:20 AM mountainstoner,
The 409 and 304 systems are fully polished at the mill, the bending process changes the polish at the bends but the straight sections and still polished nicely. If you took a 304 system and really worked on the end of the tial pipe for 30 minutes before you installed it it would be like a shiny chrome tip appearance wise. The 409 will not hold the polish over time the 304 will.
Magnaflow only offers 409 and 436 stainless, the 436 will hold a shine better than 409 but not anywhere near as well as 304.

mountainstoner 07-15-2005, 11:48 AM Looks like I may do the same thing, Sleez
Thanx Mark - your service on this website guarantees that I will come to you first when I finally do make a decision!
ratlover 07-15-2005, 11:51 AM I keep meaning to take off my tail pipe and have it chromed.......I too dont like a tip bigger than the rest.
Kennedy 07-18-2005, 11:15 AM My 4" system includes a 4" ID polished SS tip. I have also been considering adding this style tip to mt 5" system.

Mark Craig 07-18-2005, 11:41 AM ratlover,
Don't chrome it you'll hate yourself in a few months. The rear tires throw rocks at the chrome and chip, then this winter it'll rust and look worse than nothing you have now!

mountainstoner 07-19-2005, 06:31 PM Kennedy - I looked around your site but I don't see a pic of your system with the tip. Did I just miss it, or can you post one here or there?
Thanx!
ratlover 07-20-2005, 09:18 AM Mark, the thing stays jet black now......dont assume anything would change that look ;) :D
Thanks for the tip though......I will have to rethink
