About four times now in the past month my 04 2500HD has locked me out with the keys in the ignition. I park in my garage at night and leave the keys in it only to find in the morning I'm locked out and have to find the other keyless transmitter to get back in. I can't find anything in the owners manual saying that it should lock on its own when its not running and the key left in the ignition.

No I don't. The only thing I have read in the manual about auto locks is, while the truck is running, (taken out of park or at a set speed) nothing about just locking itself with the ignition off and the keys left in it. I just turn the key to the off position and leave them in. I'm not bumping the lock or anything like that. I've had the truck over a year and it just started about a month ago.

I don't have the DIC either...only thing I can suggest, which you have probably done is to just leave a window down... lol.. I'll have to read my manual and see for myself in case this happens to me some time.

it's in the manuel somewhere. Apparently it gets set if you hold down the lock button on the key fob while the drivers door is open. You will hear three chimes which sets the truck in "lock driver outta truck mode" and the doors lock within I think six seconds of the last door being closed. It happened to me twice in two days, once on a trout stream in the middle of nowhere and the other in some small ass town in Iowa...It cost me $135.00 to get the truck open twice. The spare keys were in the center compartment.......I know have a key taped under the truck as I turned off the delayed locking feature but no longer trust it.

I thought the drivers door will not lock with a key all the way in the ignition and the door open. Even if the button is pressed with a door open, the door should lock then unlock.

Not true, I lock the truck with it still running (with the key fob) if I have quick stop in the cold or extreme heat. Make sure you take your fob with though. ):h

If the truck is off and the key is all the way in and you click the lock it will immediatly unlock the driver door. The fob will override it when you leave it running.
