I was on m way home from a vacation today when i went to pass this jack ball that was going about 45mph in a 65. I had my Edge w/ attitude on level one I mashed it to the floor for about 4 sec. to pass him and I noticed my EGT's spiked as high as 1352. I wasn't towing anything also it was about 100 degrees outside. Is this normal?

Wow, that sounds high for a small tune. I would check your thermocouple to see if it's going bad. They are known to go bad from time to time.

Also, check for air intake blockages or a dirty air filter. This could also cause excessive EGTs.

Did the truck feel normal and accelerate fine?

they will spike once in a while on short bursts when you hammer it..mine does the same on level 1...the thing is not keeping it at high temps for a sustained period..then you risk melting stuff.

edit..then again, if Coyotekid is right then we may both have a problem ;-)

Even when I mash it on Level 3, my EGT's never go above 1220 or so....and I have a stock exhaust!!! Could my thermocouple be going bad?? It seems I should ahve higher EGT's with a stock exhaust.

How do I know if my thermocouple is bad are there visable indications? I only have 2200 miles on the truck, and I have only had the edge installed for about 2 weeks. Also stock exhaust with no other upgrades. I haven't checked for blockages but i will. The truck seemed to accelerate fine. What are normal EGT's cruising 70-75mph unloaded on flat surface? Thanks.

I hit 1350 sometime with no power added. It can spike briefly but shouldn't stay there.
