Greetings, I'm new to Diesels and this forum. I recently purchased a '02 2500 HD short bed with 47,000 miles on it. I got it from my uncle who is very meticulous with his vehicle care including maintenance. He used it as a 5th wheel hauler on a recreational basis. After putting on about 1000 miles, I noticed an unusual sound at idle, almost like an exhaust leak sound, but definatley unique. This was as I was returning from lunch (no, I did not eat Burritos!) On the 17 mi drive home at the end of the work day the noise was still evident, but the truck seemed to drive normally, all gauges in proper ranges and the RPM at speed seemed consistent with my brief experience driving her. Being the cautious type (who has an extended warranty) I made an appointment to drop it off at the dealer to have them check it out. As I left the house enroute to the dealership, all of a sudden the truck made a catastrophic, kind of whizzing sound. I shut her off and awaited the arrival of the tow truck (did I mention that I sold a '04 GTO to get this truck?). After nearly two days' worth of waiting the stealership finally got to look at the truck and determined that the flex plate broke. I've never heard of such. Anyone else ever hear of a similar incident?

Yes.
167.00 for the FP
65.00 for fasteners.

But I have a little more power than stock... and haul trailers.

no big deal. the FP is a pretty flimsy piece IMHO
