A co-worker of mine has a 98 3/4ton GMC Ext Cab/ Short bed with the 454 and 4L80E. He went to the parts store to get rear brakes and they needed to know which size size brakes he had and they needed the gross wieght(don't understand this one). They said it was either the 9 or 11 inch breaks. I'm guessin seeing that it has the bigger motor that would have the larger brakes. Am I correct in thinkin this or does it very depending on options? Oh the truck has 3.73s in the rear.

They need to know the gvw of the truck it is on the drivers door and the brake drum diameter it helps ensure you get the right parts If he went to a dealer for parts they would ask for the j codes on spid label in glove box.
