: How much is actually leather?

I am too dumb to see the difference on these new, dark seats. Which portions of my leather seats are actually leather and which are vinyl? I don't want to waste good leather conditioner. I assume the seat backs are the cheap stuff, but what else? Arm rests? Headrests? Rear center fold-down console?

Thanx!

basically just the front seating surface. on the crew cab, the back seat has a little leather on each side where you sit. the rear console is not leather either. can you say nauga hide?

heres another link on the subject.

Chevy has some of the worst leather there is ask anyone who has had it .also they are allowed to call any hide of an animal leather ,so water
buff is defined as leather.now what you want is top grain cowhide tanned in italy.you aint gonna get that from chevy you would need to get it recovered at a aftermarket shop, but the seats are so cheap and nasty it may not be worth it .go sit in a 2005 BMW 745 or 750 and get some perspective of what a good seat is .don't bring a wrench or you may be tempted to borrow them. don't get me wrong ,I like the truck but the seats suck, and the tires and wheels are too small.{2005 2500HD ext cab 4x4 Duramax /Allison ,sport red } hope they get the hint and do it right in 2007 or 2008.

I personally dont mind the seats themselves at all...I find them quite comfortable when adjusted just right...however i do agree that the "leather" is a complete joke. If you want good quality leather get some Katzkins seat covers.

The leather is not fine stuff by any imagination. The vinyl seems to be heavier than the stuff I had in the 01. Armorall has a decent leather conditioner that works well on the entire interior. Think it is recommended for both vinyl and leather. Takes about 15 to 20 min. to do it all.

I doubt any conditioner will help cheap leather...especially driver side outside panels.

The truck seats are good...but the leather sucks. If anyone has a new truck..best bet is leatherique...it will help delay the eventual cracking that will occur on the cheap A..s leather.

Thanx, guys. I'm not a big fan of leather anyway, I just wanted the buckets and my wife wanted the heated seats (though I have become addicted to them, too) so we ended up with leather; I'll probl'y just throw a set of Wet Okole covers on 'em when I get a few extra $100.

Thanx again!
