Last Friday night I overboosted my truck at the dragstrip and my NOS engaged before I got the green. There was a BOOM and then every gear was neatral. I had it towed to Socaldieseltech's shop around 11pm, who met me there and insisted we get it up on the rack right then. We dropped the transfer case and rear housing and found the sheared output shaft (now a handy paperweight for my desk). Socaldieseltech made some calls and we came up with a replacement Sunday afternoon. Sunday night the truck was back up on the rack, and around 2:30am it was all back together. To get everything lined up on the splines required dropping the entire tranny and reassembling the tranny & rear housing vertically. With Mike L.'s the over-the-phone consulting and Socaldieseltech hands-on expertise, everything was done in a 72 hour over-the-weekend effort. If anyone would have told me that kind of repair could be done what quick, I would have laughed.

A huge, huge thanks to Clyde (Socaldieseltech) and Mike L. for being able to do what they did, and when they did it.

I'll post a couple pictures of the carnage later.

I saw the sheared part. Extremely clean break which is odd. If you have both parts, I would be interested in making a blueprint of it, and seeing what it would cost to have a stronger one made by a racing gear house.

It isn't just an output shaft, but a fuse as well):h I saw the sheared part. Extremely clean break which is odd. If you have both parts, I would be interested in making a blueprint of it, and seeing what it would cost to have a stronger one made by a racing gear house.

Pat,
I'll get everything in to Clyde's shop early next week. You can pick it up there. Not sure if you can scan the part still in the housing though.
