: LMM Cab creaking
Beckman 06-25-2010, 02:51 PM My cab is creaking bad when I go over dips or anything like that flexs the cab. I've searched and some say to lube it, install squeak reduction tape, replace roof drip weatherstrip, or even replace all the weatherstripping.
Dose anyone know if there is updated weatherstripping? Or whats the best fix?
Sgt.Diesel 06-27-2010, 12:27 AM Just trowing it out there, but did you check the bolts that hold the cab and frame together? I noticed in your avatar pic that you have steps and might be a possibility that the bolts were not torqued down to specifications causing the cab to flex (74ft lbs if I am not mistaken).
timoloco 06-27-2010, 01:11 AM Yes, there is a new part number for the weather stripping. And it works. Read this thread, it has everything you'll need.

Beckman 06-28-2010, 10:57 PM Thanks for the info!
So the weatherstrip assembly is the rubber seal along the top of the cab right? Is there only two on a crew cab truck? And do I still need the 3M Squeak Reduction Tape installed along with the new weatherstrip assembly?
updated w/strip for this concern is the repair

Just the weather stripping. And take it from me, it works.
Beckman 06-29-2010, 07:30 PM Just the weather stripping. And take it from me, it works.
I'm still confused. The long weatherstripping across the top so I need 2, or the weatherstipping all the way around where the door seals 4 of those?
I'm glad to hear it took care of the noise.
Thanks again for the help!
timoloco 06-29-2010, 11:30 PM The dealer replaced the weather stripping that starts at the bottom of the windshield and runs to the back of the cab. In total its only 2 pieces that are replaced; 1 left and 1 right. Take the TSB number to your dealer and they will know what to replace. Hope this helps.

It helps alot. Just got back from the dealer and they ordered both pieces. It will be nice to have a creak free truck again. :)
timoloco 06-30-2010, 06:26 PM Sweet deal
locoasset 07-03-2010, 10:34 PM Dealer did mine under warranty Thursday and she's nice and quiet now.
Beckman 07-21-2010, 12:13 AM I installed them last week and it's creak free!

X2 Worked great so far on mine.:)
britej 08-30-2010, 09:23 AM I took my crew cab in for the repair and all they replaced is the weatherstriping that goes all the way around the doors.. nothing else, it still squeaks. Now my floor plates are not seating good, the stick up above the other trim that they are supposed to match with. So, they should have replaced the TOP one.. and not the one that goes around each door?
Shasta 08-30-2010, 11:02 AM Yes. Apparently your dealer didn't read the TSB (#06-08-64-035D) which explains what to do, and even gives the part numbers for the correct pieces...
hill1430 08-30-2010, 09:21 PM Replacing the weather strip under warranty fixed mine!!

Mine is doing this and I'm out of the 3yr-36k mile bumper to bumper. Any idea what the upper weather stripping costs for both sides?

X2
timoloco 10-27-2010, 11:40 PM The dealer replaced mine under warranty as long as my truck was under 50K miles. The main reason because i had my truck in many times before the new design was out. try it
TylerB 10-27-2010, 11:43 PM I guess I can try it this Friday. I have 50,160 miles on my odometer though..
Clm7214 10-29-2010, 08:36 PM Just wanted to say thanks to you guys in this thread. The cab creaking was driving me CRAZY, tad bit OCD. Dealer told me no such TSB exists, so in the waiting room I searched this section and this thread led me to the TSB number. Dealer ordered the two weather strips and hopefully soon I will have a creak free cab. Thanks guys.

Did you get a price?
Clm7214 10-29-2010, 09:02 PM Did you get a price?
No, it was covered under my extended warranty. I'm not sure of the mileage cut off for the TSB though.
TylerB 10-29-2010, 09:08 PM Guess it might be worth it to check. I'll try Monday and make sure I take them the TSB number! Thanks
