I recently changed from the old style oil gaurd return line (into the drain plug/pan fitting) to the cap return fitting and my drain plug is leaking. Is there supposed to be a washer on the plug or no? I used the washer off the oil gaurd fitting because I couldn't remember. Thanks

yes, they commonly leak without the metal o-ring.
