Just tried changing the screw on filter on the tranny, also changed the air and fuel filter. Then after starting my truck it says reduced engine power and the tranny light is on. Im not much of a mechanic so not sure what i did wrong. I just unscrewed the tranny filter and screwed the new one back on in its place. Did i miss something? Today is help the dumbass day and im first in line

Doesn't appear to be an emergency...... Moving to Maintenance and Fluids

OK forgot to plug in the sensor on the airbox and that fixed the "reduced engine power" but the check engine light is still on. double checked the WIF plug on the fuel filter. Dont know what else to check. Dont have any leaks anywhere.

The engine light is probably still on because you haven't cleared the codes yet.....

Clear the codes and see if it comes back on....

Did you get the magnet off the old tranny filter?

I have 2004.5 LLY. What magnet? I have a small screw on filter. I have changed the filter a couple of times

There is a magnet on top of the trans filter, sometimes it sticks to the tranny more often than not it sticks to the filter and if you don't notice you will throw it out with the old filter (yep yours truly made this blunder the first time he changed his filter in 2006). They are available from Allison for a couple of bucks each.

Next problem CEL.... will clear with about 20-30 key cycles. Code will still be in ecm until cleared though. Have a good day.
