GM shop manual says use anaerobic sealant around the edges.
Felpro gasket set contains two thin grey timing chain cover gaskets.
Can I just put the gasket on without the sealant?

I can't find these locally yet...Permatex 51813 / Loctite 518

I used gakset sealent on bolt sides of the surfaces. I also used gasket maker around the water pump holes.

I used the gasket with a small amount of silicone on both sides. Seems to have worked.

I have a new blister pack here, it's from my local NAPA store. It's listed as "NAPA-Permatex Gasket Maker". NAPA stock number is: 765-1189

I've never used a cut gasket, always used this sealant. I've not had any issues with it yet. Same with tin covers (oil pan & valve covers), I use Permatex Ultra Gold silicone gasket maker. I had a couple of issues with the early blue sealant, Since they went to the "Ultra" series, no problems.

I use the gasket and anarobic sealer. RTV all the water pump bolts. I have had issues with just anarobic sealer. Sucks to take apart a second time.

i usually hi-tack the gasket to the part and a light skim of rtv on the block side..always works for me..good if you ever have to take apart you can usually just slip back together again
