Got yet another question for all of you. When I first bought the truck, i thought the SSD intake looked like a great deal for 100 bucks so i bought it.
When I mounted it, i questioned to myself how this could be effective with the filter just inches away from the turbo and manifold. The turbo sounded great, and I thought it felt better, until i changed it back to stock and there really is no difference.
Recently while towing about 3k pounds, it got 2 lines above 210 for a very short time. It had a hard time with keeping the temp below 210, mostly lingering around 210 on all hills.
I took the intake off, thinking the engine is sucking air that has to be close to 200 degrees at times, with slow pulls up long hills, not much air is moved under there.
My question is, could that intake contribute to hotter engine temps when sucking such hot air?
I put the stock system back on (it's a 96) with a K&N air filter. It also seems like it smokes less black smoke than before.
Thanks
