: Truck just died on me.....????

So, after driving 30 miles or so on the highway, the wife and I stop at a store real quick.

Truck sat for no more than 20 minutes. Come out, start the truck, put it reverse. As soon as it begins to move, it dies abruptly. Try starting back up, no dice, just cranks. No blown fuses, no obvious visible or audible problems.

My mind went to fuel. Was it making it to the motor, did the injectors leak down... I tried the priming cap on the fuel filter housing and it allowed me to pump quite a lot without firming up at all. (small amount of fuel visible after all that priming, but not a large amount) No start after that. So i tried having the Mrs. crank it while I pushed on the priming cap and voila it started and ran like normal!! Got us back home (15 miles away).

Whats the deal? lift pump going bad? fluke? Any input is greatly appreciated...

By looking at your sig...i noticed it doesnt list that you have a fass/air dog. If so, the cp3 sucks fuel from the tank. Sounds like possibly a bad filter housing? Common question...but, When was the last time you did a fuel filter?

Just did it maybe 3k miles ago. I would love to get a lift pump to match the demands of my mods, just havent had the cash. But i'll find cash, if these symptoms point to that.

Any other input/ideas?

one other thing i stand by, i always use ACdelco filters....just one of those things i do, nothing against any other brand:rolleyes:, in case a filter seal or something of that nature decides to induce issues:D

I had the exact same symptoms this past year. It stalled several times when backing from a parking space, primarily in hot weather. Priming the fuel system would get it going after a bit. Yesterday it stalled while towing after pulling over at the top of a pass to let traffic by. When I bled the filter assembly, there was a lot of foaming fuel, and it was done. I towed it to the dealer and the filter housing was replaced. After reading up on the problem, I had planned on replacing it with a rebuilt housing from dmaxwrenchkit (and still suggest it if you are running ok now), but GM got the repair due to the tow. It ran $260 installed with a new filter. By the way, mine is a stock '05 with 110K miles on it. No matter what you decide to do, be sure to replace the plastic bleeder screw with an aftermarket one; the plastic deforms too quickly. I hope this helps.
