Ok so I had my water pump replaced today and there is a loud whine around 1800-2100 rpm. I have found plenty of posts regarding this subject and it usually involves people replacing the pump multiple time to correct. Are people doing this because of the noise or is it a reliability or engine damage issue? I can live with the nosie but should I worry about the pump having a short life span or creating metal shavings in the motor?

I'm living with it but I swear over the last year it's quiter now. Maybe I got used of it.

Mine was a whiner too but as time goes on it has gotten quieter(took about 5k miles). Imo its just breaking in. Now I just have a mystery squeaking when the truck is cold. Sounds like baby birds under the hood.

Just in the last couple days my truck started making some funky noise at startup. Sounds like a bearing whining or something along those lines, but goes away quickly. :(
Going to do some investigating with a stethoscope (aka big azz screwdriver) and see what turns up.

Hmm ive had this noise too at cold startups it sounds almost like a power steering pump or something... the whine changes with rpm in park neutral and drive... and seems to go away once it warms up
