: support rods from flywheel hsg to eng mnt?
My 1982 4x4 Blazer is missing the 2 strutt rods that go from the cast aluminum flywheel cover to the plate at the engine mounts (actually the left plate is missing and I have a set of the strutts and the right is about 1/2" too short, must be different varities).
How inportant are these?
I have a C30 6.2 turbo 400 2x4 that has a stamped steel flywheel cover with no strutts. Where these only on 4x4's?
dstang97 06-20-2010, 07:47 PM loosen up the motor mount bolt and see if it will give you enough play.
Joeairforce 06-20-2010, 08:30 PM They're VERY important on a 4x4....

Oops. The ones from my engine to bellhousing aren't attached since i did the conversion to the SM465. The main strut rod from the bellhousing to the t-case is in place though.

You'll end up breaking part of your transmission housing with out them.....
Could take a while but it will happen......

hmmmm.....Which part? It's the SM465 aluminum hydro clutch bell housing bolted to the cast iron trans.
I just have to get a bolt for one side as it lines up. The other side i'll have to make a bracket as the strut rod is lined up with the hole but it's over 2 inches to one side. I can just make a heavy steel bracket and put that in there right?

Diaric 06-21-2010, 07:13 PM the ones for the 6.2 were equal length, identical, i have a spare set, but i want to keep them for another project. the gassers were apparently different per side. i should look at the ones on my 400 stroker
Livelli 06-21-2010, 09:59 PM Btw, the part number for the T-case/trans bolt support is #14020856. In case anyone needs a good place for references, try CompNine. I have mine saved (85 K-5) http://www.compnine.com/index.php?s=1&catcode=52R&year=1985&modelcode=K&modelid=6500&makecode=LC
Enjoy.
And for hard to find parts : http://www.vpartsinc.com/index.php
I am not affiliated in anyway with these sites. They do not pay me. In fact, it's quite the opposite.:truck:
