All I am looking for a drive shaft to fit a 2002 Chevy S10 (LS), it has a 4.3 V6, ext. cab, reg bed 2 WD.
If you are near VA Beach or NC border I can pick it up. If you need to ship it let me know where you are so I can check onthe shipping cost.
Better yet, if you are near Boston I can pick it up over the 4th if the price is right.
I can handle a used one, just trying to save some money. I can except emails at cmaa@lsd41.navy.mil it is sometimes difficult to get on line while at sea.
If possible I would like to get this for a young sailor that works for me, he does not have a lot of money. It would help him with getting back and forth to work. He is just in a bind and I would like to help the young sailor.
Thanks in advance.

Tough break, the driveshafts in those things are one of the biggest abortions i have ever seen. Ive rebuilt DOZENS of them, and with 5 u-joints, 2 cv centering kits, a carrier bearing and nearly an hours labor to rebuild EACH CV head then 1.5 hrs to rebalance, which they almost always need..... they get expensive in a hurry. Good luck finding a good used one, usually as murphys law dictates, the ones in the junkyards that have a good CV head on them have a forklift related crease in the tubing, and the ones that the forklift missed have shot CV heads. Not trying to wizz in your cornflakes, im just very familiar with the animal you seek.

To search for it I also need to know the trucks wheel base and type of transmission (auto or standard).

Well, if its the double double cardan shaft im thinking it is it is, they only came in 2wd 4.3 auto eclb s-10s. Not sure what the wheel base is but im nearly certain all the s-10 driveshafts with 2 double cardan joints in the driveshaft are the same length.

The search system I use doesn't specify cab/bed combos, only wheel base, 2 or 4 wheel, auto or standard, I4 or V6.

Its most likely the longest wheel base available.
