: TXC with LBZ intake and mouthpiece question
mcaveman 06-19-2010, 04:24 PM Ok gents I have a LLY that I put on the LBZ turbo mouth piece. I am picking up a stock LBZ intake box. I also have a TXC sitting in the garage that I havent installed yet, I guess my question is.
If I put on the LBZ intake should I or can I still install the TXC mod??
Thanks,
Mike C

I do know that you will need to rescale your MAF sensor with the correct values or your truck won't run right and set a P0101 code.

I was just reading about this in the old posts, What the hell do I tell the dealer is there a TSB number or something to tell them?
Brad92 06-19-2010, 04:44 PM I don't know of anything you can tell them TSB wise. I'd just say I won't my truck flashed with the LBZ MAF codes. If they are good, they'll try it, if not then you need someone with EFI Live or HP Tuners. I don't even know if they can do it with a Tech 2, although I'm sure they could.
briano 06-19-2010, 05:05 PM there's a MAF code for the flat air filter box and there's another MAF code for the round filter air box...you just need the appropriate one for your application. While getting it you can get the latest updates as well.

You cannot install the TxC CAI with the LBZ round filter box. It was designed for the square(ish) LLY box.

Click the "LLY MP Upgrade" link in my sig, or the sticky at the top of the page. The TSB is post 3 or 4, IIRC.

Sell the TXC mod....then you can use what you've already bought....What did you spend the most money for?
skleppy 06-19-2010, 11:03 PM The only thing that you are going to get out of using the LBZ airbox is a lighter wallet everytime you go to change the air filter. Tests have been done by those who know on here, and unless you're going to push north of 500hp the stock LLY box is fine. The LBZ filter is about twice the price of the LLY filter. You can mod your LLY box to get the same benefits of the LBZ box with out the continous added cost.
My opinion would be to sell them both and look in the DIY section for the LLY box mod. Costs you next to nothing and you get the same benefits as if you spent some money on a mod.
1953drtelco 06-20-2010, 01:51 AM I did the LLY Mod myself. I have the same benefits as TCAI I originally purchased from KillerBee. Luckily I found somebody who wanted his airbox, so I sold it and for less than $10.00 I completed the air box mod...
mcaveman 06-20-2010, 06:55 AM Im even more undecided now then I was before I posted this! I can get the LBZ intake for 50 bucks from a friend at work. Cant remember what I paid for the TXC. Thanks everyone for the replies Ill have to think on this for a while..
White05LLY 06-20-2010, 07:03 AM Stay with your lly box and run the TXC. Your IAT will be better its what i am running on mine and my Intake temp are only a few degree's warmer than out side temps when moving
skleppy 06-20-2010, 09:44 AM Stay with your LLY air box and put the LBZ mouthpiece on...thats about he only treatment the LLY intake really needs.

X2. LBZ air box is a waste of time and money. Filters are twice the price too.
Randy_the_Hack 06-20-2010, 03:28 PM You should have paid $60 for the TxC CAI (that's what they cost)... and I agree with skleppy... just sell the other stuff and keep the stock LLY airbox and install the TxC CAI. I'm pushing 500 RWHP and that is what I have... plus a RickDLance (ProFab Performance) intake tube kit. No modifications to the MAF or anything else, and I get to use the cheaper AC Delco filters. The ONLY difference between your setup and what I have is that I've got the LBZ Kodiak mp. Could not be happier.
mcaveman 06-20-2010, 03:36 PM Ok Ok im keeping the LLY airbox and installing TXC kit. I havent purchased the LBZ airbix yet so no harm no foul. Thanks again for everyones help. So whats next for my truck muffler delete?
mcaveman 06-20-2010, 05:24 PM Update... Just installed the TXC, took a little longer than the 10 minutes they stated but I got through it. Again thanks for all your replies!

:D Whats next he says...like he only going to do ONE more thing to his truck like the rest of us have
Randy_the_Hack 06-20-2010, 11:01 PM Yeah, right...:pigs:
ktreadwell 06-22-2010, 01:12 PM How do you do the air box mod?

ktreadwell 06-22-2010, 11:17 PM Thanks for that link, I will definetly do that. Will my paper filter work ok with that mod?

Yeah I just run a Delco filter.
Randy_the_Hack 06-22-2010, 11:37 PM Yeah I just run a Delco filter.
I run the AC Delco filter... and while I did not do the Kennedy mod, I pulled the foil from the inner fender and installed the TxC CAI. I've had zero problems.
fishprowler 06-22-2010, 11:44 PM X2 I forgot to mention that. Pull the foil from the inner fender, there's a big hole under it for cool air to get in. Something to do with the gas trucks, but they cover it with foil when they put a diesel motor in. At least I think I read that somewhere....

Supposedly the covered it so that dusty snow wouldn't get sucked in and plug the air filter. I live far enough south though that this isn't a problem for me.

What is Rick D Lance's website? Or do I have to IM him...?
NM! Found it...Thanks for the great information on this site!
So on top of the 75% improved airflow from the LBZ mouthpiece on the LLY, Rick D Lance's intake tube kit claims it ads 35% better flow. That is 110% better flow???!?!~??!?!?! Wow, where has this been!? Or where have I been...
ktreadwell 06-23-2010, 12:40 AM Thanks, I will keep stock filter. The foil on my fender only revealed a very small hole about the size of 2 fingers wide. I will do mod to box, looks like good idea.
