When my truck is idling in gear it has a noticeable amount of grey/black smoke. If I put it in park or neutral it immediately stops and starts again as soon as it goes back into gear. Also my temps dont fall off at idle and slowly start to climb at lights till I get moving again. It has a new fan clutch, t-stat, cleaned out radiator, and waterpump.

Check your timing marks. smoke could also be from worn injectors. What temp are you running while driving? How high does it climb when sitting at a light.

does it smoke at all when driving and what is the temp it maxes out at when sitting idle and cruising down the road?

Down the road it is running about 190-195 when it is above 95* outside and at the t stat (190) when it is below like 90* outside. Temps normally stay between 195-200 at lights and only seem to climb if it is hot outside. But if I climb a large hill with a light at the top it could go to 205-210 before the light changes and then they drop when I start to go. Timing mark is just drivers than the block mark.

sounds normal to me, mine will run around 200 and jump to 210 if i stop at the top of a hill. how about the smoke? does it do it when driving?

Smokes in gear idling but not when in park. A little cloud when I start to accelerate and then when climbing hills there is some light smoke or when I get on the throttle.

all sounds normal but the smoke at idle, maybe you have a stuck injector? im lost as to what would cause this
EDIT: what RPM is yer idle at? if its high it might cause this because when its in gear and you wont let it move it would be under a little load

The truck doesn't have a tach so I can't really tell.
