Anyone have the 4" Flowmaster aluminzed system on their rig? Good about it? Bad about it? Should I do it?

Plan is based on feedback to put on 4" flowmaster system with 5" s/s tip, about 13" long. Let me know your thoughts.:help: :help:

What is the noise level on the flowmaster vs. the stock.

You propably won't gain anything with that setup performance wise. The only gain comes from reduced EGTs. I have the Flowmaster muffler on my stock exhaust and it sound quite good, just perfect. Not too loud and not anonymous. The 4" should follow theses lines.

I am adding the whole flowmaster system turbo back not just the muffler....any more thoughts?

What I'm saying is that the sound is great and the whole system should follow the same pattern. But someone else may have more hands on experience.

this is just my personal opinion on Flowmaster for Diesels... I checked their exhaust for the duramax and don't get me wrong..I love Flowmaster, I have it full length on my car and love the sound..BUT...for a diesel their Hush muffler is still chambered. I don't see any benefit of this muffler over the stock muffler other than size and weight reduction. If you swap out mufflers I'd get one that is pretty much straight through because if you get a chambered muffler then your EGT's won't really change at all because of that backpressure. The main benefit of exhaust is to lower EGT's, but if its sound you are after then by all means it will sound great.

just my $.02

mullis56,

braino is right their muffler isn't "diesel designed", check out the MBRP systems. Call us if you have any questions and we will help you out.

Check out Diesel Power #2. They installed the Flowmaster catback system. Together with the synthetic fluids and reprogramming they got more horses and higher EGTs....difficult to say whats the Flowmaster part is. With a green Airfilter and Flowmaster alone they lost some power...makes me wonder...

With a 50hp/100tq Bullydog tune the green RC truck never gets over 1200 degrees towing 23-24K combined even in the mountains of KY & TN. It gets 9-11 mpg towing at 60-70mph. The only other mods on the green truck are a K&N intake and Flowmaster muffler on the stock exhaust.
