I am considering ordering the following items:
Gm BedRUG #12499438 - $322 (Dealer Quote)
Flexible Protector Rails # 12498508 - $108 (Dealer Quote)
Door Sill Shield # 12496040 - $17 (Dealer Quote)
Retractable Tie Down Hooks (Black) # 12498612 - $66.30 (Dealer Quote)

Just wanted to see who out there has these items and what you all think of them. I like the idea of the bedrug because it looks pretty soft and I find myself campin in the bed of my truck on occasion, as well as hitting up the local drive in movie. Also, it supposedly will not scratch the paint in the bed.

Do any of you know if the bed rail protectors will scratch the paint along the rails? And if so, what can I do to keep it from doing so.

Also, any problems with the tie down hooks? From the search I ran, it looks like a couple of you had problems keeping them tight, is there a fix for this?

Thanks ahead of time for the info guys!!!

I have a BedRug and it is much better suited to my use than a spray in. I carry mostly furniture, sound equipment and that sort of thing. The BedRug’s soft surface is very easy on these. Plus, because it is foam backed it is pretty easy on you, too. I have a cap on my truck, now, but used the BR for several months in the winter before getting the shell. It doesn’t absorb water and dries quickly when wet. It is tough and carries a lifetime warranty with no use restrictions. I have never removed it, so can’t comment on whether it is paint friendly. My guess is that it won’t hurt the paint very much, if at all. It’s not monolithic and doesn’t “work” the way a drop in liner would, keeping abrasion to a minimum.

I have a BedRug and it works great. I doubt I'd dump a load of compost on it, but it will clean right up if you do. I have spilled diesel on mine with no ill effect. I have had barrels of water in it that compressed the foam flat, and it comes back to shape after a while. I camp in mine and it is nice and snug when the weather cools down. I probably won't go back to a spray in for my next truck.

SDkid21,

I too have the BedRug in my new truck as well as my '01. I have caps on my trucks and don't haul any construction materials or the like so it works well for me. In fact, I got the BedRug for my dog when I take him hunting. He loves the back of the truck and doesn't slide around. I just removed the rug from the '01 for some spring cleaning and the bed of that truck looks brand new. Would highly recommend it. Have the caps on so the other items you're interested in I haven't had a need for.

Bedrug:ro)
Dog used the bed of the truck as a doghouse for 2 days while we where visiting relatives. I left the tailgate down and it rained the enter 2 days we where there. By the time we left I had a dog, tailgate and bed rug covered in mud and ... stuff. Got home, hosed it off and IIRC it was dry before the dog was.):h
One word of warning...don't fill the bed with pine needles...you will spend way to much time trying to get them outCensored .

Hey guys, the bed rug sounds awesome...

Do any of you guys have any opinion as to how the bid rail liners work? and if they scratch the paint job?

Also, I need some info as to how the retractable hooks work!

Please let me know, and thank you all for your input so far!

I've used my Bed Rug since October of 1998 in 3 Silverados with and without caps and it is still going strong. You can take it with you when you buy a new truck. I love it. I do have bed rail protectors on my 2004 but don't know how the paint would be underneath. I don't think it would matter as I never plan to take them off. Good luck.

I have a Bed Rug as well. I also have a rubber mat that fits the contour of the bed that I throw on top of the bed rug when I'm going to haul something really oily/dirty. The rubber mat also keeps things from sliding around. :D

Well I don't have a bedrug so I can't speak for that, but I do have rail caps and retractable hooks. So far I love both.

The rail caps shouldn't harm the paint (they go on with double-sided tape) but I don't ever plan on taking mine off so I can't say for sure. I would be more worried about the rest of the paint fading more than the section under the rail cap (similar to "bras" on cars). I bought Bushwackers and recommend them. They are ABS and hold up well, and you can get smooth, ribbed, or diamond-plate:

The retractable hooks work well too. I have had alot strapped down to these and haven't had a problem. I bought Bully Pop-ups but there are alot of other ones out there. My only complaint with Bully is that I could only get them in chrome, not black (which would have matched my rail caps better):
