Thinking about moving my two batteries to the back of the bed. Good or bad?

Welcome to the site!!
Why???
Sounds like a lot of probs to deal with. Need heavier cables, routing through body parts, sealing body around cables, exposing batts to elements.
What are you looking to gain??

Weight transfer only. Have a 2004 Super Duty that seems like all the weight is on the front end.

Also have a 1989 GMC 1500 6.2 with Banks kit.

If I were me, (and sometimes I am), I would just load some tools in the back. Sandbags will work as well. Heavy duty rigs are designed with the intention of carrying a load. the nice thing about sandbags, is that you can remove them.

You'd have to really upsize the cables to run batteries in the rear. It would be best to route them under the truck, probably in a protective sheath. Personally, I wouldn't bother with moving the batteries. The movement of 120lbs of batteries is not very much of a change. Now doing that in a small drag car makes a huge difference...but that's another story.

Having trouble with torque converter lockup. Would a bad vac pump cause it not to lock up?

move them to the bed, many people do this with off road trucks to help even out the weight. best way to do it would be to add a steel or aluminum tool box in the bed and mount both batteries in a plastic battery box availible at any fish and game shop.

you will need to upgrade the wires and secure them to the frame so they dont rub or anything. do a google search on it and jump over to pirate4x4.com and read up on what other users have done to mount batteries in the bed
