: Denali interior
Bavanew 06-16-2010, 06:08 PM I'm debating on a 3500 srw Denali and a 3500 srw King Ranch/Harley Davidson. I think the Diesel shootout will most certainly help me make my mind up. Ultimately, Performance, handling, fuel mileage, etc, will take precedence over the interior.
However, should the above comparison be a very close call, then I think the interior finish will be the deciding factor.
I've looked at the Harley Davidson, and I can certainly say, that is one sweet ride! I have not looked at a Denali in person, but from what I can tell when looking at pictures, it looks pretty nice, but it doesn't have that, wow effect! Am I wrong?
I would have to see it in person to give it a fair judgment!
For those of you that have seen, or own a 2007 + Denali, How does it compare to a LTZ, (interior only)? is it mainly the wood-grain that stands out, or are there other fine details that really separate it? When looking at the Harley Davidson, there's a lot that makes it stand out from the other models.
At least if you spend the extra $$ on the King Ranch or H-D, you know that you have something to show for.
Is the Denali really all that they make it out to be? Or is it like, I spent that much more $$ for only this?
Also, I recall reading a post written by Ben (duratothemax) that the Denali offers the Bose luxury sound system. However, GM refers to the sound system as being a "Premium sound system" Can anyone clarify this?
I swapped out my premium system for a Luxury system in my current vehicle, and I really noticed the difference.
P.S. - Ben, if I didn't read your post properly, forgive me, no offence!
Any input will be appreciated!
Cheers,
Blair
badabing1512 06-16-2010, 10:20 PM im assuming your talking about an 2011+ ...scorpion= bugs (most likely) duramax= proven. The End
GMC2500HD 06-17-2010, 08:14 AM I have not seen one in person myself but from the pictures I am not impressed. The 2011 King Ranch interior in the Ford is awesome. I think they even stepped it up from the previous version of interior used and it has a new look. Good luck.

why am i not surprise by your answer .i would wait till the reviews between the 2 but from the first drives i ve read the ford is going to get there ass whooped:Wedgie:wait till the pickuptrucks shootout
DURAtotheMAX 06-17-2010, 10:00 AM the denali's can get heated/cooled seats, and a couple other things. The 5.1 bose surround sound stereo being one of the main things. I have not heard it in person but I would imagine it is pretty nice.
I still dont get what the hooplah is about the ford king ranch interior. Wow so it has the same leather as a saddle, who gives a shit. Its still an ugly color either way, and still the same FLAT ford seats. If it was black I would like it a lot better.

I think the shootout will be very interesting. Would I personally own a KR truck, no.. Just not my thing. I do think that GM needs to work on their leather seats (material wise) as I had issues with mine in some of the vehicles I owned.
I am intrigued to see what the reviews will be on the interior comparisons.
fishprowler 06-17-2010, 12:14 PM Wow so it has the same leather as a saddle, who gives a shit.
:funnypost
DURAtotheMAX 06-17-2010, 12:50 PM and also, I like how ford bought the KING RANCH name plate.
coming from a place that used to run a fleet of old vw beetles for many years as beaters around that ranch, its pretty funny ford chose the KING RANCH name to put on their super heavy duty rugged pickup trucks.
ben
Brad92 06-17-2010, 01:06 PM I think GM would benefit from having their own nameplate (IDK if Denali really counts). Ford, Dodge, and even Toyota have had brands that they packaged with their trucks.
The Harley Davidson F250's are amazing!!
I do agree that Ford seats are really hard and not something I'd want to take a trip on.
Ted308 06-17-2010, 05:33 PM Have you seen the price tag on a king ranch??? To much money for a truck if you ask me!

What until you see the price tag for the denali... It will be close to if not just as bad..

Well, it's like anything else, it comes down to personal preference. I used king Ranch and Harley Davidson as the examples, as they are the best that ford has to offer in their pickups. If you don't like brown, well you won't like the KR, and if you don't like Black and red, you won't like the H-D. Personally, I prefer darker finishes, but I give credit when credit is due, and in this case, I give it to ford. For now anyways!
It pisses me off that the general doesn't offer an interior that competes with the Harley Davidson model, but that's the way it is. When I see the Denali in person, I may have a different opinion (I hope so!)
P.S. - What does Harley-Davidson have to do with it anyways? I like the finish, but it could lose the name. (nothing against Harley-Davidson) just seems silly as a model name for a pickup truck.
There's a character in my neighborhood that drives around in a 2008 3500 SRW LMM with the H-D badges all over the truck. (why doesn't he just attach the Blue Oval and get it over with?) And he's not advertising that he's fond of the bike, he just wants a H-D truck. It's funny, some of my neighbors (don't know much about vehicles) say, oh look, there goes that H-D truck...ever nice - I don't even bother explaining, I just agree.

im in love with the denali...
very classy truck without being too much... the fords king ranch is beautiful, but i feel it will grow old quick

I'm not against it......you have done your time here no doubt......I think you have some GM loyalty.......or you are just an idiot.
Just curious why a ford guy cruses the GM forums is all. 15k post count is nothing short of amazing. ANd I think you are owed respect because of that. Maybe your heart really lies withh GM, but you have tied different. since you are a ford guy now...who knows???
But really.....you are a ford guy on a gm site. Tell us......why are you still here......really.....I mean really.....why? You are a ford guy now so why? I think that would good for us to know why now.....why.....help us understand................................

he owned a couple dmax's up until 2008 or something.
I just wish that GM would've changed the interior and did some upgradeing, cooled seats something cool with the phone that would read your tex messages. It use to be that you could look for GM to have the best and be on the cutting edge, and i'm saying interior only, but now I feel that they are about two years behind, behind at least. My grandpa just got a new Dodge and it's interior is light years ahead of GM, a Dodge I never thought i would say that. I get in my 08 Chevy and I feel like I am in a cheap rattle box now. It was ok back in 08 but it just doesn't cut it in 2011.
denissawyer 06-18-2010, 10:33 AM I would have to agree with this last post it would be nice to have a middle of the road exclusive package... maybe a Browning 2500HD? Ford undoubtedly spent countless hours R&D'ing their interiors ... but its a truck maybe they should spend more time in the engine bay perhaps. You buy a truck for it's capabilities as a truck not for it's capacities to wet panties of some 20 something blond based on its captain seats. /endthread.

The pickuptrucks.com review states the Denali trim truck they tested had a heated steering wheel, and heated and cooled seats. Also you can get dealer installed WiFi in GM vehicles now which is pretty cool in my opinion.
I think the Denali interior is very classy, like something from a luxury car. It doesn't shout "look at me" like the King Ranch does. That being said I do like the KR.
salmandmx 06-18-2010, 01:10 PM X2 on the price-tag of the Denali HD. For what little you get extra the several thousands of dollars aren't worth it. I have a fully-loaded LML coming in a couple of weeks and when I priced that compared to the Denali LML - there was a big difference. As far as exterior, the only difference was the front end.
Ted308 06-18-2010, 02:17 PM What until you see the price tag for the denali... It will be close to if not just as bad..
Seen the price tag on the denali and the ford and down here there is a 7,000 dollar difference. I would not pay 70,000 for a pick up.

If you don't mind, how much of a difference was there in price?
That is comparing apples to apples. Even with the Denali you have options to choose from. I'm assuming that you priced out all the same options...dvd Denali to dvd Silverado or Sierra, etc...
This should put things into perspective for what you should get with a Denali.
Thanks,
B

the denali HD's are NOT GOING TO BE $70,000..........................
DarthDiesel 06-19-2010, 08:30 AM the denali HD's are NOT GOING TO BE $70,000..........................
A. 100% Denali HDs will be 65-70k depending on all the options
B. To my knowledge the Denali HD only comes in 2500 Crew CAB, no 3500.
The ferds have the edge with technology, the synch gizmo is pretty cool and the interior is more "funky" and edgey. If you like gizmos buy the ferd.
My Mrs drives a Yukon Denali now and the interior design is clean and simple, similar to german cars.
I prefer the Denali, but thats why they make chocolate and vanilla. Pick what you like best.:D

Respectfully, the thought process is short sighted.
Regardless of having the same equipement or close to the same equipment, in the end the Denali will depreciate less and be worth much more.
If your budget allows, when buying trucks or cars you are always better off buying the higher model rather than a lower model with similar equipment.
Trucks are a losing investment and you will lose less with the higher model.
DURAtotheMAX 06-19-2010, 10:08 AM A. 100% Denali HDs will be 65-70k depending on all the options
The denali HD starts at 45k. Add 8 grand or whatever for the duramax package, we'll just round it off to 10 to be generous. So thats 55k for a denali HD duramax. Where are you getting 15k worth of options????
B. To my knowledge the Denali HD only comes in 2500 Crew CAB, no 3500.
you can get it in both.....
ben
DURAtotheMAX 06-19-2010, 10:14 AM I just built a 2500HD sierra denali with every single option you could get. Duramax/allison, Heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel, rear seat entertainment, 20" wheels, sunroof, nav, Z71 package, backup camera.
I got $62,100 MSRP including delivery charge, so sorry, no. Its not going to be 70k. I dont know where people are getting these ideas/prices. $55,200 MSRP including delivery charge for a 'base model' Denali HD with the duramax/allison and no other options.

I did the same the other day on GM site with the same results...
Im sure that price is pretty flexible once theyre on the lots.
P.S. 3500 denali does exist.

I didn't say they were, if you LOOK at the previous page I was talking about the King Ranch going for 70 not the denali, I know it's cheaper I built one online as well, I thought about buying one but I prefer the chevy so I ordered an LTZ, so before you go make it sound sound like someone is stupid you should read a little.

x2. Diesel pickup prices are ridiculous now. Ford deals more on their trucks than GM. I have seen it first hand. That being said, we have always been GM loyal, but there are alot of things that Ford does better than GM and vice versa. You can't claim that one has the better truck anymore, they both have their high and low points. Ford had a better truck in the 90's (7.3 vs. 6.5) than GM, then GM had a better powertrain in the 2000's, now they are pretty equal...
richterscale 06-19-2010, 04:18 PM Starting price for the Denali is only $1300 more than an slt.
What does that $1300 extra give? I can see that the bumpers are body color, a unique grill, chrome door handles & body side moldings, brushed aluminum doors sills & a different fake wood on the interior.
What else is different to justify the price? The above listed items are not worth $1300.

No, but GM has to rape you on something...;)
richterscale 06-19-2010, 04:34 PM OK, I just optioned out a Denali like I would want it and it comes to $60,393. I did the same with an slt and it came to 59,508. The slt had a power slider rear window which was not an option on the Denali, but the Denali had the heated and cooled seats. In reality, the difference in cost using all the same options is only about $500 for the Denali package.
One thing I noticed and wondered if anyone knows why--the Denali z71 package says it has 35mm shocks, but the slt z71 package says it has 46mm shocks and is also $100 more expensive than the package on the Denali. I thought the standard shock on these trucks was the 35mm--is the Denali z71 package just skid plates and stickers?
Ted308 06-19-2010, 06:15 PM yeah sorry about that, I misread your post. :o:

nicer door panels, wood steering wheel, 5.1 Bose surround sound with a much better amplifier and additional center channel speaker, nicer center console, nicer instrument cluster etc.
I think the denali definitely has an extra $1300 worth of 'nice stuff'. GM isnt ripping you off as much as you think when you pay extra for the Denali IMO.

As far as justifying the value for any of these options, whether it be a sierra, silverado, lt, slt, ltz, denali, etc... you can't, It's all about what you're willing to pay for the prestige.
I need a Denali like I need a second asshole! But I like it, therefore I have to pay to play. If I had to justify everything I buy, I wouldn't own half of what I have.
Having said that, I still like to get the most for my money!
Personally, I like a HD luxury vehicle! You can use it for that HD application, and you can still use it for a night out on the town, with class!
Different strokes for different folks:cool:
P.S. - on the news yesterday, some guy won $10,000,000.00 a year ago, and has only bought himself a new BBQ since then. Tonight's jackpot is for $50,000,000.00 and this guy has bought more lottery tickets.
I don't know about you, but I think that's sick!
Too fu..'n cheap to move out of his shit hole of a house (they showed it) but still wants to win 50 more million. I don't understand:confused:
I'm not suggesting that he blows all of his money, but only a new BBQ, and yet he still buys lottery tickets every week!
I had to get that off my chest!

Illusions 06-20-2010, 12:53 PM I owned a Ford, took it on a 9 hour trip. I was laid up for 2 weeks with back problems after we got back. I sold my Ford and now own the Chevy 3500 LTZ. Ford seating is a chiropractors dream. I sat in a new Ford and the seat design was the same as the one that laid me up for weeks. No thanks Ford but you need to really look at the competitions seating designs.
Dodge has some really nice interiors in the luxury models. I came close to getting one. Only problem was getting past the DODGE name.
I figured I would just add my 2 cents. But like its been said before. that's why there is chocolate, vanilla, and I'll add blondes, redheads, and brunettes to the list. ;)

Yeah, their flat seats are as hard as a rock! Dodge's interior is one of the best right now, IMO. I still love the H-D F250, maybe it won't matter about the seats cuz I'm young. :D

Well, Ben a few things... the website has no 3500 Denali only 2500 crew.
I bombed one out and came out to over 63k...maybe you forgot the sunroof.
so I stand corrected I am ~1,500 short.
Close enough for me once you add the Linex, a deflector, and set of weather tech mats.
Not to mention the 7% tax I have to pay...:crap:
DURAtotheMAX 06-20-2010, 09:58 PM Well, Ben a few things... the website has no 3500 Denali only 2500 crew.

I didnt forget the sunroof. 62k (the absolute highest MSRP the denali's will be with every option) is a far cry short of the (up to) 70k that you said the denali's will "100% be". ;)

Dude the MSRP was 63 and change...not 62 you must have missed an option somewhere......
Agreed, its less than 70.... A far cry from 70......not really 10% of the sticker is not a far cry.
HDdave 06-27-2010, 11:02 PM Notice how you put your zip code in when you build one? I am pretty damn sure the price is affected by where your located..
Play nice

QuikSSilver 06-30-2010, 02:07 AM OMG!!!! f- that! hell a "heavy spec" kenworth is 115,000 and that is a truck! and a "heavy spec pete is 130,000 and that money is getting you something!! can't imagine paying that much for a stock :eek:pick-up!
DarthDiesel 07-07-2010, 07:41 PM ^^ no imagining needed, people are already ordering them.
STLCHEVYHD 07-07-2010, 08:41 PM I will probably have to wait a few years and let someone break one in for me before I will be able to afford to buy one. I will keep dreamin' of owning one until then!
