I am looking to lift my 96 burban. What is everyones opinion on doing susepnsion lift as opposed to body lift. I know body lift is cheaper and easier, but what is your opinion. What kits have you used?

Thanks

I've been trying to find a true suspension lift for my '96 burb, too. Anything over 2" (that I've seen, at least) uses blocks to lift. Nothing tow-worthy past that magical 2" mark.

I put a 3" body lift on my '95 Sub and I like it. It was cheap and easy and looks good. I have full length running boards that hide the frame nicely. I run 33X12.5" mud terain tires on 16.5X9.75 rims and they don't rub. I have no cooling issues, but don't tow.

I am not fond of body lifts and all of the various adjustments that need to be made. Plus, the engine sinks deeper into the engine bay and is harder to work on.

A 4" suspension lift is usually the least amount that you can lift the suspension (not counting blocks). It may give you a bit more suspension travel, which can be a good thing. I've resisted lifting mine because there are a number of garages I use that it wouldn't fit into, if I lifted it. Decreased mileage is another detriment...

All I had to adjust was the length of the steering shaft and the placement of the e-brake cable. You can't tell me there is less to do with a suspension lift...

The body lift allows for easier acess to the oil filter, glow plugs, bellhousing bolts etc. It's way cheaper to buy and you can easily do the work yourself. Center of gravity is kept lower for roll stability. Personally, I like my b/l and would like to add a 6" suspension lift in the future. :)
