Not to beat a dead horse, but my truck is having injector issues again. They are going out. I dont have to smog my truck right now but arent the injectors part of the smog equipment. The dealer says the injector back flow rate is within spec so they wont replace the injectors. But if my truck didnt pass smog then would they have to replace them under the smog equipment laws? I believe smog equipment like EGR and CATS are covered for eight years. Not sure if injectors fall into this category or not. Just thought I would throw that out there. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Justin

Injectors, and glowplugs are 7 years, or 200k miles. Not sure what the amount of the Allowance for repairs to get it smog legal.

I had thought about the same angle.
Two dealerships have not been able to get my injectors replaced under warranty, and they are definitely bad. My truck smokes like a chimney.
I got my registration renewal and they are not asking for a smog this year. I decided to just bite the bullet and I have bought reman injectors and am starting the replacement in my garge tonight.
I did try to call a couple of smog testers here in SoCal, and none of them knew about testing diesels. I had thought I would just take a failing smog cert. back to my dealer, but gave up.

I have taken the truck in 5 times over the last year trying to get them replaced under the 7 year, 200k warranty and they say the same thing every time, NO. That warranty doesnt cover the injector ball and seat failing, only internal leakage of the injector. I am not sure if I have to smog this year or not.
