Since I don't have an egt gauge, I gotta ask. . .
Has anyone noted the difference (if any) in your egt's before and after a cat delete? What kind of temps did you see? Any performance improvement??
I'll be installing one very soon, totally curious.

What most people have said, the difference is about 50 degrees.

I've seen people claim anywhere from a 25 to 200 degree reduction.
I think part of the confusion is that most people usually put on an egt guage at the same time they remove the cat and go to a bigger exhaust and many will also add a chip or tuner at the same time so there is not much info on pre-cat removal egt's.
There are also a lot of different factors that affect EGT's so to get real numbers you need to compare similar situations.
I tried to find this out before myself but didn't get very far.

It was diffucult for me to not install my EGT gauge and remove the cat at the same time, but I am curious, too. :agreed: EGT gauge has only been in 3 days, so I don't have an answer yet. I want to get some good data when towing and unloaded, then remove the cat and drive in the same situations. As in my signature, I have an LB7 stock pipe to replace the LLY cat pipe when the time comes.

I"ve done both... removing just the cat will drop about 50 degrees...if you do an entire 4" exhaust system your temps will drop 200. the most noticable thing without the cat is that the temps fall very quickly instead of sticking at a high temp and gradually falling.

Oops! Didn't see the exhaust section in the forum till ya pointed it out. Search produced overwhelming results! Thank you for the info! May even help with fuel economy? Maybe if I can keep my foot out of it?! So fun, big truck go so fast!
