: No turn signal when the brake is depressed???

On the left side when the turn signal is activated and I depress the brake the light comes on solid. On the right side the light continues to blink. I believe the left side is activating the brake light and not the blinker. When I turn on the left blinker the cruise kicks out as if I hit the brakes.

Thanks for any insight...

Rich

try changing the bulb(s). the most common issue is a bulb shorting internally and backfeeding the system

bad ground wire or the signal switch is bad, 9 times out of ten its the ground wire

+1. Check bad ground at the tail lights themselves. Quickest way to do this is to remove one of the lights, find out which wire is the ground, and use a jumper to connect it to a known good ground.

I suspect you'll find out your problem goes away instantly.

If you can't trace where the ground feeds back to in order to repair it, just run a new ground wire and splice it into the ground at the light itself. Fixing the ground at one side will likely fix the issue at both lights since the ground should backfeed to the alternate light.

It is very common to develop poor connections in the taillamp board in those years.

the brake light switch , is down behind the brake pedal arm, and If you the size of a 8 year old, it's a piece of cake. There is a funny slotted U shaped clip that slides over a notched pin, that holds that switch in place, clip off, switch out, unplug, the reverse order.
But upside down, dash in the way, wires in the way, with short arms, all hinder that process. A beer always helps those types of repairs.
