I was driving up a pretty steep grade towing a larger trailer and the plastic line that runs from the the T in the rubber hose up to the boost gauge got brittle and broke. it appeared to be a bit close to the turbo compressor and it just got old. Anyway the Truck instantly died and threw a code. I got out, popped the hood and knew exactly what had happened. I took a piece of hose and took the line with the T out out. I unplug the batteries and reset the SES light. I know the code is still stored. Do I need to go down and have this cleared or can I just leave it alone. I hate having to take it back for them to clear a code. I do not have a reader to clear.

Thoughts?

where in CA are you? Autozone has a free service for scanning and clearing codes. Other auto retailers may have the same service. Otherwise someone on this site that is close to you may lend you their scanner.

I live in San Jose. I did a little bit more research and the stored code will not have any bearing on the truck running properly. So at somepoint I just need to hook up with somebody and have it cleared

it will clear itself after not seeing the problem for awhile.
