Has anyone had experience with the Putnam XDR class V receiver? This hitch seems to offer the most bang for the back. Rated to 15,000# and 16,000 weight distributing. Also, uses the standard 2" opening unlike the Reese Titan.
Any thoughts?

It has received very positive reviews at RV.NET and is cheaper than the Reese Titan V. I don't have any bias in this one. I have the Titan.

Try to find a 2" ballmount with those ratings and a ball with the ratings.

I drove from my dealer right over to a local shop and bought my XDR. Went home and swapped out the OEM POS.
Easy install. You will have to get a Hoppy 7 pin mount at Wally World for the electrics, but it is a simple snap in.
FWIW, on my way into work today I saw a CC Dmax that first caught my attention because the passenger rear door looked like a large can opener had got ahold of it. Turns out this was a local farm truck according to the decals on the side of it.
As it passed I noticed something odd about the rear. the OEM hitch was dangling about 6" off the ground. At the next light I got a better look. The two bolts that go up through the rear bumper had ripped right through, and the tube just to the left of the receiver had looked as though it was sheared. Obviously someone overloaded this truck, but to see how that thing pretzeled was something else.
It had not been re-ended as there was no other damage to the bumper itself.
Anyway, I wanted to stop the guy to see if he'd like to buy my OEM I have sitting in my garage! ):h

I replaced the factory pos after it was failing in the pin hole area (the hole was elongating front to rear) and it was flexing and twisting with the weight distribution equipment.
Compared to the factory, this thing is a beast without getting into the problems of the Titan and getting everything switched over to 2 1/2" sleeves, etc., or using an adapter all the time.
My hitch gets abused from pulling a race trailer, camping trailer and overloaded hay wagons on the farm. It has shown no signs of any failure at all. I'm glad it's got a high rating on the weights because that way I don't need to worry about it when pulling 10,000 to 13,000 pound trailers every week.
My ultimate thoughts are, why are you waiting--it should be bolted in by now!
Check out the Putnam web site, call them, and they will give you a dealer for them close to your area. Got mine shipped in a day and it cost less than $160!

Thanks for the info! I will order one later this week. So far my regular tow (if you can call once a month regular) has been about 5500 lbs. One time I did pull 9200 lbs. I don't tow often, but I plan to be increasing frequency and weight. So again, how did GM screw up something so simple? My other issue is the clutch. GM ARE YOU LISTENING????
